Tricone Lab's aesthetic is based around cellular biology, so it's fitting that solving its puzzles would feel organic. Maybe it's the way all the individual parts undulate and wander about or maybe it's the fact that nothing can be moved, only combined or separated, but every part seems to have a life of its own. They all want to return to order, to be rearranged so that the tricone can be formed. Each new piece is introduced one at a time, in its own series of levels. That tutorial, if the process can be called that, lasts for about half the game. But because each piece has presented its own distinct motivation so well and the end goal of any puzzle is so simple, the entire game becomes completely modular. Pieces can be positioned in almost endless variety making the inclusion of a full level editor an act of great foresight. Community maps, which appear to go through an approval process from the developers, are already being made and are extending the game with a creativity that only crowd-sourcing can produce. This is a good thing; for though the official levels are a full taste of what Tricone Lab has to offer, a taste often leaves one only wanting more, as it does it in this case.

Do you like those logic puzzles like, "Can you make four triangles with six toothpicks?" If you like logical deduction brainteasers and minimalist design, you might love Tricone Lab. It's very simple to learn, but difficult to master. Customizable, very unique, and challenging. Personally, I'm terrible at logic and math, and still managed to complete twenty of the puzzles before getting stumped. I appreciate a game that is difficult. I also appreciate how considerate the developer was towards people with disabilities in creating the game. The high contrast is visually accessible, and there is even a colorblind mode. Negatives? The game is a bit buggy, and is not cheap. If you're as bad at logical puzzles as I am, you may not even make it halfway through the game. Overall, though, I recommend this to anyone who loves logic puzzles and wants to support a talented independent developer. I received this game for free.
Does not have fullscreen mode. Now, borderless windowed (which the game features) would be enough, but ... its resolution list is limited. By far most games list resolutions up to my 4K desktop (Windows 10, newest patches), but this one doesn't, max is something around 3000. So I have the choice to play with a window centered on my screen that either has borders or doesn't have borders. But no fullscreen. That's just too low tech, and the game isn't good/nostalgic/magical/whatever enough to warrant such a flaw. Refunded it.
A challenging logic puzzle game. There are 5 levels of difficulty and the level is indicated for each puzzle. New bio-logic mechanics are introduced as you progress. Even though there is not much current activity in the discussion forum, Josh, the developer, still monitors it and has recently provided me with a hint at solving a puzzle I was having particular difficulties with. His hints are...cryptic...but then, you don't want the answers handed to you on a plate, do you? As another reviewer noted, a "gem" of a game.
Though got a crash in first minute, the game works fine set to native res. A new approach to puzzles is really freshening. Fine interface for what is aimed, good atmosphre with the animation and music. No-brainer to get at discount if you generally like puzzles.
