About
Maple and Miette are two Halloween-obsessed kids in a neighbourhood where Halloween is practically an afterthought. They'd be lucky to see a single decorated house in any given year, and, as you might expect, going trick-or-treating is completely out of the question.
That is, until, Maple hears a rumour of a street between two suburbs that only appears after the sun sets on Halloween night, in which (almost) all the houses are decorated. She can't remember who exactly told her this rumour... But any chance for candy is a chance worth taking!
...However, it seems like whatever, or whoever, led them here isn't letting them leave anytime soon...
Follow Maple and Miette in this short Trick-Or-Treating Simulator and help them maximise their candy gains!

Fun but also repetitive game where you trick or treat by following the rules. You follow Maple and Miette, two kids who want to get a good haul of candy on their favorite night of the year. Unfortunately, their neighborhood does not care much about Halloween, so they must find another street. One in particular only appears during this time, but finding in is easier than escaping. Trick-or-treating will lead you through the mystery street four times, each with a greater challenge. Also, characters have different things to say and reveal more about themselves on each street. Finally, they all become scarier. You do not have to play them all at once; you may simply select the last unlocked street and continue from there. The whole thing is pretty simple and does not take much effort. You walk down the street and decide whether to enter the house or continue on to the next one. Going back is not an option, so you only have one chance to acquire some candy from each house. However, there are rules you need to follow. You acquire them in the first house, so you do not need to memorize them. The rules also include information about houses and some remarks about the resident. There are fifteen distinct characters, and you must open the rules for each residence if you want to collect as many candies as possible. In addition, the residences in each game are chosen at random. All that matters is that the house is decorated, all lights are turned on, and the house corresponds to the image in the rules. The latter rule is critical because, even if a house appears to be perfect, you might still make a mistake because you failed to notice that a door differs slightly from the rules image. The task is to walk to the front door, check out if the house fits all the rules, and knock on the door. When the person answers the door, you have two choices. If everything is fine in the house, click "treat". However, if the house does not obey the rules, you must select "trick". While clicking the correct option will result in a lovely bundle of candies, selecting the incorrect one will result in a very modest reward, a piece of fruit, or nothing at all. Right option is also accompanied by a simple mini-game in which you must click a button at the correct time. There is another mini-game in which you must push buttons in the correct order, but it doesn’t appear often. Art and writing are good. Each character is unique and has something to say about both trick or treat situations. You will receive your grade once you have completed the last house. If you want the highest S rating, you cannot make any blunders. This grade will also grant you a nice achievement, with one for each difficulty level. Unfortunately, this becomes repetitive after a while because you cannot skip anything, including the start where you learn the rules. You will have to watch everything every time you wish to get a higher grade or simply play a street for fun. Another criticism is that once you enter the street, you cannot exit. Although this fits with the game's narrative, it is also an oversight. The only way to exit is by pressing Alt-F4.
I really enjoyed this game! It gave me those early 2000s click adventure game vibes like Pajama Sam, and I loved the art style. I noticed some spelling errors here and there, as well as some stuttering with the close-up house camera. Also, I̶ ̶h̶a̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶a̶n̶g̶o̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶L̶a̶n̶d̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶5̶ ̶c̶r̶a̶s̶h̶e̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶r̶e̶f̶u̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶r̶y̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶r̶i̶c̶k̶ ̶m̶e̶,̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶s̶k̶i̶p̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶r̶a̶s̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶S̶ ̶r̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶.̶ This has apparently been fixed in recent updates, very fast fix. Amazing job I got every achievement except: Are you Trying to Kill me?! What are you, Chicken? I spent about an hour trying to get Are you Trying to Kill me?!, even creating a spreadsheet for it, but I never got the RNG needed (my theory is that you need to get every apple in the first level for it). As for What are you, Chicken?, I'm completely lost—unless it means I need to start a new game. Other than those, I recommend this game to anyone looking for a good, quick game with fun characters for cheap.
A delightfully spooky and short little Halloween adventure with a pumpkin full of charm. The story is fun and easy to become invested in, the characters are all interesting and the door knocking mechanic is intriguing and can be quite intense when going for perfect runs. The pixel retro pastel-core aesthetic is gorgeous and the style is great. A perfect lil' story to play through during Halloween. I was just a few months too early XD
A good looking fun game made a friend, i had a few issues with the game freezing when starting a level, but all and all a good game.
