Trajectory is a first-person adventure/puzzle sci-fi game, designed for VR, but likewise playable on regular computer systems. You wake up in your space station prison cell and try to find a way to escape (sort of). To do so, it is necessary to accept missions from the station-computer. You are free to decline, but have to face the consequences. Missions are random based and consists of navigating a drone, playing text adventures, completing maintenance tasks, etc. Sounds easy, but it isn’t at all. The developer published a walkthrough guide, which is your best friend. It does not provide all the answers/solutions. You still have to find the exit of each level. (for instance) All takes place in different levels/locations/settings in a zero-gravity environment. To discover the multiple endings, it is necessary to complete multiple playthroughs. I had mixed feelings with regards to level design, graphics, sound, and narration. Sometimes they are decent, sometimes in need of getting used to. (but not bad at all) Given the circumstances, one-man developer work, it is a nice little game. 6/10
Review powered by Mamilos Club Group.
10. Trajectory is a first-person space exploring game that will have you orbit as a prisoner over different planets depending on the day and task at hand. There are only a few days left of your sentence, and everything you do now has an effect on whether or not those few days are also the last ones of your life. Some of the tasks, as instructed by the ominous voices in the intercom, consist of simple maintenance of your life in the space can. Every so often, though, you are required to undertake a special mission. These will have you perform a space jump over to an another spaceship, often abandoned for one reason or another. The special missions are the meat of the game, and there's a pleasing variety to them. In fact, there are so many of these, you might not come across certain ones even after finding several of the endings. There's a lot more content than it might seem at first. The endings are also far and away from being a simple button press (I'm looking at you Deus Ex), as instead you'll find them branching out fairly well from each other. As for the gameplay, at some points it can call for some patience as the game doesn't necessarily lay everything out for you in terms of what you're supposed to be doing. Being a first title of the developer in what's mostly a one-man show, perhaps AAA-grade game design is a bit much to ask, but I'd still hope for more hints. It helps to hit ESC when you're stumped, though, as the in-game menu always has some hints in the way of what you're supposed to be doing. While jumping to the other spaceship, I felt it wasn't clear enough that you were supposed to be aiming for the middle of the largest part of the ship, where there's a doorway for you to enter into the special missions. I'd also like the ability to use a flashlight, as I find myself reaching for one in a few dark spots. The ending branches are great. These will send you to the most exciting locations in the game. The game even gives you a glimpse of what happened to Earth in this universe, and you might feel better about having had your warm prison module while visiting the home of humanity. Turning against the company you involuntarily work for is totally possible in several ways, and they won't hesitate to go after you at that point. Just keep your wits about you, and keep messing up Orbitek's plans is what I'll say. Oh, and for a secret ending... Don't forget your pills. ----- The reviewer has participated in the beta-testing phase of Trajectory.
Trajectory

Gameplay
Trajectory is a first person sci-fi game which puts you in the shoes of a prison inmate who is held in a prison cell which is orbiting around the earth. Trajectory revolves around the fact that your prison sentence is nearing its completion and you will have to complete various tasks to serve your sentence. These tasks are varied in nature and range from normal things like repairing parts of corridor or something more exciting like making a jump to another spaceship. While the game does not have any sort of action sequences or anything of that sort, it gives players a very relaxing space environment to roam around in and uncover various secrets of the organization that has been keeping you in. The game more or less stays on its path and the various jobs you do all lead to different endings. These endings feel quite different from one another and slowly let you uncover more of the game’s lore, which in itself is pretty interesting to say the least. While the tasks are many and you might not even see all of them during your playthrough, they do start to feel repetitive and i started to wish that the game gave me something else. You can roam around the prison quarters and in your own room where you are intended to sleep after the work has been done. The space station is surprisingly quite small and it takes a short while to explore all of it. It is not helped by the fact that the said quarters look strikingly similar to each other and makes the environments feel a little drab. You might find secrets of the evil organisation Orbitek along your way but that is pretty much where the game stops. The other mechanics like low gravity jumps are also not done well and leave a lot to be desired. Trajectory is not a game you will play for hours and hours on end as the experiences are similar to each other and aside from uncovering new endings, there is no real incentive to replay the game.
Visuals
Trajectory has a great visual aesthetic which shows in the environments created inside the space station. While the rooms get repetitive and some environments are drab featuring really low textures making them stand out in a bad way from the other well crafted places, it gives you a great feel of what it would be like to be stranded on a space prison knowing there is nothingness floating outside the room you are standing in. But the game does falter in the use of its lens flare whenever you are looking out of a window. There is a blinding white light filling your eyes and might leave you stunned for a few moments. I might have preferred a more subtle use of showing the outside space through the windows than this overly enthusiastic greeting of the sun to my eyes.
Sound
Subtle sound system helps in building a solid environment for trajectory. There is a creepiness factor involved right from the start where every sound effect seems to echo throughout the entire station. The voice which reminds you of your tasks is monotonous and while that may sound bad on paper, it works perfectly given the overall nature of the game.
Overall
Trajectory is an unique game but not one which will be liked by many. It does not feature your traditional gameplay tropes and tries something different with its designs. And while not all of them work, Trajectory succeeds in pulling off some great environments and some surprising endings. It has a lot of issues at the time of writing but you can give it a try if you are craving something different. Honestly ...I thought it would be a good game , but ..number 1, I did not get anyone to answer or give me a tip on my queri ( stuck in reactor )..number 2 ...graphics and how things happen in the game need to be addressed......example ...in the cell room, as you're walking ( running ) along the wall as you go up the stairs to get into ather rooms , it seems like the wall its two parts and as you get closer ,it turns into an actuall wall......anyway , I believe the game is a one person endevour ( thums up for you ) but , in my opinion ...it needs work.......
Poorly implemented throughtout. Graphics are not good, gameplay is not good and so on.
6.4/10 - Lab rat simulator 2077
Trajectory is quite a neat little game for its price. The graphics are beautiful, and the controls feel tight. A single sitting of the game is very short; but due to the many randomized missions with alternative solutions and easter eggs, there is a lot of replayability for the obsessive completionist, especially for those who want to hunt down every possible ending. The gameplay consist of a fairly large, though somewhat monotonous, variety of puzzles, platforming and similar physics-based challenges and some thematic mini-games. All in all, while no masterpiece, Trajectory is competent compared to many other space-themed walking sims, and makes for a fine way to kill a few hours, particularly if you are looking for a game which you can play in short bursts.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift. VR Review Only.
If you're thinking of buying this game for the VR experience, then don't bother. VR does not properly work. As you may have figured out if you have half a brain, motion controllers do not work. But also keyboard & mouse or gamepad (Xbox One). In other words, no input method works correctly in VR. The game does render to the VR headset. I did notice issues with light messing with the 3D effect, making it look blurry. No matter what I did, I was always centered wrong in this game in VR. Re-centering from Steam VR did not fix the issue. Trying the re-center option in the VR menu did not work well enough, as I was still too low to the ground. You cannot start the game from the VR menu. You can't select any options in the VR menu. You can only re-center view. Once you're in there, you have to manually quit the game. You can't re-center outside the VR menu. Avoid going to the VR menu, even though it is tempting to click on that menu button, don't do it. You can select menu from the desktop view. You can start a new game. So you start out and you say to yourself, this isn't so bad. Then you get your first mission. It says to go to the computer and input some information. Guess what? Yup, you can't. VR doesn't work. Rate 2/10. I mean at least it started in VR. i don't think my computer was infected with viruses. On the other hand, I wasted 30 minutes of my life, along with the $3.59 USD spent on this game that doesn't work in VR. Can't even refund it as it's too late for me.
The game has a very promising setting and description, but it fell short of my expectations. I found myself consistently frustrated while attempting to complete the missions given to me by the terminal. In one mission I was supposed to find a mop, but couldn't locate it anywhere. In another, I was supposed to pick up cargo with a drone. I spent 15 minutes bumping it through space trying to push it into a box, and when I did, nothing seemed to happen. The instructions and controls were unclear, and I didn't have the patience to figure out what I was supposed to do, because of my next point: I am not a person that tends to get motion sick or suffer from eye strain, but as soon as I got into the game, my eyes begin to hurt - a dull, throbbing pain. I believe that this was caused by either the very high degree of motion blur, or something else about the graphics. I checked the options menu for a motion blur setting (there was none) and tried decreasing the graphics quality, but it didn't help. The only other time I've felt eye pain like this while gaming was when viewing the 3D setting of the Nintendo 3DS. I played for 40 minutes hoping that the apparent eye strain would go away, but it didn't. This, combined with the frustrating gameplay elements, forced me to request a refund. However, despite these complaints, I am still voting that I recommend this game. Why? Because the developer clearly put time and effort into it, and I've seen far worse things on Steam. I don't think it's worth the sale price of $10, but if it's on sale, give it a try if you're into space games. The concept of being an inmate on a space station was fun, and the game would have been fun if I wasn't in too much pain to play it.
