Erotic parody of those spot-the-anomaly games and also an almost perfect H-game, one of the best ones I've ever played. My absolute favorite part is the pacing, it's done pretty much perfectly. Once the game loop starts getting a bit old they throw in something new to keep it varied and interesting. It gets a bit grindy in the end but it's not even bad, pretty relaxing actually. The gameplay is pretty simple and fun. The variety of anomalies is pretty good, but more would've also been nice. In my opinion they didn't lean into the erotic horror part enough, game could've used a few more intense cars. The pixel art and animation are fantastic, but the drawn CGs are a bit meh. The story, characters and ero are great but they start off a bit stiff. They find their pace pretty quick and integrate very well into each other though. The true end is very satisfying and heartfelt, a real highlight. Just a great game all around, I loved it.
The art is nice, the voices are acceptable if you like the japanese girl trope. But the gameplay and ui are problematic. The puzzles are doable, but you have to repeat them again and again which gets boring quickly. Some of them are blindingly obvious, others are quite subtle and hard to spot, and still others have annoying timing mechanics that make them very hard to spot if you're not looking out for that exact one at that time. This means you often miss and get thrown back to the start. This really is just a waste of time. Next you get the ticket mechanic. You build up lust which you have to occasionally spend with the girls replaying their sex scenes to generate tickets. This means clicking through a menu to pick a sex scene you've already seen five times to let it play out again. It's not exciting, it's not sexy, it's just sitting there waiting for the animation to finish. Another waste of time. Then you have the UI. Some game elements can be done with the mouse, but a lot of them require keyboard usage. Especially annoying is that sometimes you end up in a situation where you have to use specific keys to navigate bits, or continue the game. It feels very inconsistent, and means you have to keep looking up which key to use next. There's no flow. And then there are the menus. They are heavily stylized, with tickets and train map styling. Cute, but very, very cluttered, and hard to read. If you're looking for what your last save was to load it's just not clearly presented. You have to randomly mouse over things in order to find what options are even available on some screens. Very poor UX design. Again, the imagery is nice, but the hoops you have to jump through to get to them is just not worth it. Not recommended.
Train 45 successfully takes the spot the anomaly concept, and puts its own twist on it with an original story, creating an experience that possibly surpasses the original Exit 8. In the game, you play as a faceless man who ends up trapped inside a strange endless train with two beautiful women. The three of you must begin working together to explore the endless train, and try to find a way off. It is a simple, yet well executed plot that genuinely makes you invested in and care for the characters. As you progress further in the game, you will uncover more of each character’s backstory, and the secrets behind the train. The writing in the game is well done, with a mix of comedic and serious moments. It is easily one of the more impressive stories I’ve seen in a H-game in quite some time, with an especially fantastic and emotionally moving latter half. In addition to its strong story, the game also has a lot to offer in the gameplay department as well. The gameplay should feel very familiar to anyone who has played an anomaly detection style game like Exit 8 before. You continuously loop around the same room over and over again and must carefully observe it each loop to see if anything has changed from the ordinary room. If you go to the next loop without finding the anomaly, you will be sent all the way back to the beginning. It’s a fun and engaging gameplay loop that has a bit of a psychological element to it as well, where you are often fighting yourself trying to decide if something is truly out of place or not. The anomalies are well crafted with a good variety of designs. They hit a perfect sweet spot of being subtle enough to be hard to spot right away, but not being too subtle where it feels almost impossible to notice them. Many of the abnormalities also have a slightly creepy or disturbing aspect to them, giving the game just a slight horror feel to it. The game also adds some new gameplay elements as well, with items and custom routes. Each item will have its own unique effect, with many of them making finding anomalies easier. Additionally, you will eventually unlock customizable navigation routes where you can choose which anomalies you will come across. Putting certain combinations of anomalies in the right order, will lead you to a secret terminal room where you can then unlock either items or hidden story scenes. The game is constantly adding in new content as you play, helping the game not feel too repetitive as you play. It can get a little bit grindy towards the end though, especially if you want to 100% everything, as you will need to grind out quite a lot of tickets to purchase all the items. Thankfully though, you will get to enjoy the real content of this game during your grind…The H content. The game gets pretty creative with its scenes and often uses the anomalies as an inspiration to base the scene around. The scenes are a combination of CG images and looping pixel animations. Once viewed, you can then replay these scenes at any time back at the base train. The majority of scenes are with the two main girls Mai and Reina, but all girls in the game have full H scenes, including the main villain and the other two characters introduced later in the game. All the scenes are well done, and no matter which girl is your favorite here, you should end up more than satisfied with what you get. Overall, Train 45 is a fantastic anomaly detection game combining both a well-crafted story and engaging gameplay. It keeps itself fresh by introducing new anomalies and gameplay elements throughout your play, helping it keep from feeling stale for most of your playtime. It does grow just a bit grindy and repetitive at the very end, but wraps up right about when you start to feel it do so. It’s just the right game length to feel neither too short nor too long. Most impressive of all though, is that it may be a rare case where the H game version is actually better than the original it is parodying. The developers clearly understood what made Exit 8 such a fun and interesting game, and put their own creative twist on it with an original story and new gameplay elements such as the custom route system.
didnt get the game mechanics probably i was too dumb for a h-game.
If only real public transit network was like this
