Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

Great modern remake of an older RPG. The story is good and has modern open-world exploration graphics for you to experience it in. There's not too much to explore with the open-world roaming around but it's a modern interpretation of a classic RPG. The OSTs are great too and fit the game. The game mechanics are easy to pick up and not overwhelming. There's even different pages on the menu to tell you what each term or stat means. There are a few things to note: - The combat system is really more of a hybrid between strategy turn-based and real-time. You can keep it real-time combat by just physically attacking the monsters and not trigger any other attacks. You can even stop attacking them and run away if you keep it in real-time mode. - You need to build up your character party to be able to tackle the bosses/monsters in the main quests if playing in Normal mode. Heck, even in the side quests the monsters get too strong in Normal mode. I pretty much had to re-do the first boss battle almost 8 times because I kept dying. Then, I just decided to load an older save and just build up my character party for a bit before going back to that main quest boss. - Recommended to save often or before fighting a powerful monster/boss. It is because of the difficulty fighting monsters/bosses even on Normal mode and once you die it will only load you back to the start of the battle. - Recommended to play with a controller but can use keyboard/mouse if you want. As for performance of the game on either entry-level modest hardware or a high-end PC, it works great on mostly anything. Played on an entry-level setup connected to 4K TV and it still worked great at 60FPS with medium-high graphics quality. The other high-end setup is playing at 1440p 240FPS+ at max graphics setting.

I don't normally play JRPGs but I've always wanted to. I played the game on hard mode. Every once in a while a fight would decide to kill me for no discernible reason. 11/10 do recommend. The story is also pretty good I've probably doomed myself to catching up with the series now. Oh well, I didn't need those hundreds of hours anyway.

was not expecting this game to be this good. This is my first time playing a game from this series, and before I had only played Ys VIII and some of Ys IX. but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the story had actually blown me away. this is coming from someone who had no spoilers, and came into the first entry of this series completely blind. the game was decent at the start, but by the end I was actually on the edge of my seat praying that Josh wouldn't leave Estelle. and now I'm super intrigued to see where the story goes. the story honestly felt like a whole different story after the plot twist at the end. broo this was so good. and I love how we play as Estelle's perspective throughout the whole game. It really makes the ending hit you like a bus, because you're finding the truth about Josh's past along with her. really solid 9/10 from me. I see why its overwhelmingly positive now. definitely going to be excited for the next edition, and I hope it hits as hard as this one. also, Olivier is goated
