There is a huge difficulty spike in Act 2 Scene 3. I guess I'm just not that good at Danmaku Photo games, but the difficulty spike really sucks. If you aren't a experienced Shoot 'Em Up/Bullet Hell/Danmaku etc. player, you should avoid this game, you aren't going to have a good time. Otherwise, you are probably going to enjoy this game.
This is a game that I genuinely want to enjoy, but I'm unable to properly articulate all the many shortcomings that this game suffers from that really holds it back, especially in late game. From all the spellcards that have mountains of uncancellable bullets, to some of the spellcards having a weirdly high amount of rng (which makes no sense for a game like this to even have???), all of it boils down to the game feeling very frustrating, and never giving me that sense of satisfaction for clearing a spellcard because I felt like I got "lucky". And while I consider myself a bit average in terms of schmup skill (good enough to clear all windows touhou games on normal, including 15 on legacy), I feel like the game demands wayyy too much for the average touhou player to do, especially with this game showing off all the different fan characters from different fan games. Were the game just easier, or had an easy mode that wasn't terrible (seriously, who thought that giving 3 extra hits would be enough in late game), I would recommend this as a great entry point in introducing newer fans into getting into the more niche touhou fangames that delve into it's own set of casts and stuff. But in it's current state, I simply can't There are some things I like about the game like how some of the music is pretty good, with some of the gimmicks for certain spellcards being very cool (the one spellcard that deletes your photos if you take too long and forces you to rush your photos is a good one), or the unique interactions in certain spellcards that I find quite humorous, but even with these pros, there's still too much holding it back There's a review by a user by IHNN that puts this in words better than I can, and I don't exactly want to sound like a broken record and repeat something someone has already said but worse. I genuinely want to like it, but some things really need to be changed for me to consider giving a more positive review
Cant wait to see more commercial projects from the dev
If you like the Touhou spinoff photogames or Legacy of lunatic kingdom you will probably like this :)
Game seems really good, writing good, all the character designs are good. It's not gonna make you fall in love with photography danmaku games but if you're already a fan of those then this is the game for you
ive been begging for more StB-types for years
