Toree 3D

Very fun little game, i played it on switch but I'll leave my review here. Definitely worth it for the singular dollar it costs.

What a shame. Toree 3D's store page does a great job selling you on the bright visuals and fast paced gameplay. The former is fantastically done, along with the sound design, and I have no complaints there. Unfortunately the promise of quick platforming is rather hollow, and when combined with an array of other issues it leads to a very disappointing game. Lets start with the basics; the controls can't be rebound. Sprinting (a mechanic that Toree is unplayable without using) is bound to shift. A fairly standard choice, but one that I find to be uncomfortable due to the position of my hand. I struggled to play for more than 5 minutes at a time before my hand began to hurt. In addition to there being no option to rebind controls, there is also no option to return to the main menu or even exit the game. Level design is another weak point. Contrary to what is shown in the store page video, most of Torees 9 levels (actually really only 4-5 because half the levels feature the same theme and assets as another level reorganised in a slightly different way that feels largely the same) rely heavily on slippery ice, fans, and waiting on slow moving platforms to either get into a position where they can be reached or to carry you to the next area. The experience as a whole is less of a sprint and more of a stop-start walk where you're stuck behind someone on a footpath who's moving just a little too slowly. Finally, the visuals are undone slightly by the addition of some random and unrelated "horror" elements (very loose usage of the term). They aren't scary, they don't improve the game, and frankly they don't seem to fit in with this story about a small bird trying to collect stars and ice cream. The best reason I can come up with for it's inclusion is that it gives reviewers an excuse to give Toree the horror tag, potentially boosting its position in search results. The 'overwhelmingly positive' score seems to indicate a fanbase that is either unable, or unwilling, to acknowledge the obvious flaws in the game. A platformer that could realistically be beaten and done with in 30 minutes having so many missteps makes it impossible for me to recommend.

Genuinely impressed at how good this is considering [i]Macbat[/i] is so underwhelming. Aside from jump inertia feeling a bit off in certain scenarios, it's a respectable platformer in regards to level design and sense of speed without going overboard. Love the art, sound design, and 90s streaming CD audio cheese. A little more theme variety and challenge would make [i]Toree[/i] a truly great, lightly haunted game.

Such a cute little platformer! I've been looking for some cozy horror games, and this one fit the ticket! Simple with a fun game loop, cute graphics, and just the right amount of unease.

Really adorable game with lovely aesthetics and simple fun gameplay that is fast paced, the sound design and music also rocks too.

"bit sized"? ainda bem que é curto pq se fosse mais longo seria facilmente o pior jogo de plataforma 3d. o jogo já é curto e ainda assim a maior parte dele é chata. pelo preço é difícil reclamar mas esse jogo basicamente é 1,74 reais por 5 min de diversão e 25 de desperdício de tempo
