[strike] 1 more abandoned game [/strike] The devs. really have to stop doing this, releasing games on EA and then stop updating and just don't say anything to anyone any more. If they can't continue developing they just have to cut loses, this game right now is playable but obviously not finished and it cost 13.99€, the only way (for me at least) to correct this were to say the truth cut the price to 3.99€ or just remove the buy button. Edit 27/06/19: And they still do discount's, they should be banned from Steam. Edit 16/03/20: After almost 2 year's the game is finally out of EA after 1 single update.
Has potential but seems to be abandoned by the devs , still has tons of bugs and should be removed from the store
I was one of the lucky ones who got to try this game early and well what can I say, this game is great! Starting off I was hesitant with it being just another rubbish indie game however, this is well made with a perfect art style. The game is well balanced with the slight ammo issue being a pain at the later stages of the game. For me I recieved this game for free and I would be willing to spend up to around £15 on this game. I would definetly recommend this game as there is a high replayability with multiple difficulties and the crazy amount of customization in this game. Here is my full vid explaining my first impressions with gameplay! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSPDorA0TjA
It's... okay. Base weapons do too little damage and fire too slowly. At the start, you get weapons that do ~40 dps, and later in the game, you can get weapons that do 300-400+ dps. If you're unlucky with drops in later levels, you're SOL. Enemies are also bullet sponges, which exacerbates the dps problem. Lazurite would do well to narrow the range of both damage and enemy health. The mask implementation is another problem. They are pretty much de rigeur, but 3 hits and they're gone, and if you're unlucky, the very next mask you have cycles over and gets destroyed as well. Out of masks? Might as well die and restart. There are plenty of amazing bullet hell games on Steam - ETG, Nuclear Throne, Tesla v Lovecraft, NeuroVoider. THTH just doesn't stand out amidst the competition, sadly.
The game looks really fun and there is potential here! The art style is good and enjoyable but there are some icons and things here and there that feel like they need some work. This game is also slower paced than gungeon or something like nuclear throne. Some people might not liked the idea of picking up masks and switching your characters mid game but I really like the concept. When you pick up masks you get more abilites and also your HP increases. Pretty cool idea. I dont have much playtime beacuse at one point I started gettting annoyed of how I kept running out of bullets and there was no way for me to kill the enemies - no melee attacks anything without the mask... and when you have only one gun with no bullets you die respawn with some ammo that you had left when you saved and same thing over and over again. Maybe some kind of backup weapon that doesn't run out of bullets or a game mechanic that would help on the "oopsie" im out of ammo situation is needed. Honestly I would recommend the game but maybe just wait a bit and see where the game goes... I think maybe on the full release it could be 100% worth a buy right now? Not so much! Gonna recommend the game now because I don't want the game to suffer for things that could be fixed easily and I really see potential in this game but just wait and see for youself where the game goes in the future.
I can't really recommend this one. The art, sound, music and movement are great but the gameplay mechanics just don't do much for me. It's a little too difficult to make me want to do multiple playthroughs over and over again like other games. The mask/health system is slightly confusing. With some gameplay tweaks I could see myself enjoying it more but then it would just be similar to alot of other games.
A very fluid, in terms of gameplay and precision, and smooth in advance mechanics and grind required to advance the character and levels little rogue-lite shooter. They are very popular nowadays, and the particular one is obviously inspired by the usual suspects (Nuclear Throne, Gungeon, BOI etc) with little or none new things to offer. That is not a bad thing in no case. It offers a trivial story presented comic-book-like, and helps you advance in the levels required to progress. The graphics are beautiful in their pixelart simplicity. They contain much blood and gore, which will please most gamers I suppose. Audio is pretty standard for that genre. Gameplaywise it is more gunplay oriented, and no actual exploration is required. You clear the rooms, you get the loot, you kill the boss. Repeat. Its recomended by me since its fun and enjoyable to progress. Difficulty is pretty straightforward as 'git gud' as we are used to with the genre. Also it is still evolving, so much support from me. 8/10
Yes, it's clearly a clone of Nuclear Throne, that's doesn't quite match its model excellent gameplay. But nonetheless, To Hell with Hell is still a fairly good game. Pretty graphic and animation, enjoyable gameplay with many slow bullets to dance within, varied perks (in the shape of mask) and weapons to grab and try, etc...
Buy Nuclear Throne instead
There's nothing necessarily offensive about this Gungeon clone. It has some clever mechanics that could've been explained a little better, the presentation isn't exactly on par with it's peers, and there are certainly better options out there when it comes to this genre. That being said, once your figure out the gameplay and adapt yourself to each mask and gun synergy, To Hell with Hell can be very rewarding. <3 +A killer soundtrack that feels appropriate to the game's world. +Masks abilities can be quite a joy to use. +Nice array of weaponry at your disposal. +Rage meter is a fresh idea I would like to see fleshed out. </3 -A mediocre tutorial that doesn't exactly ease you into how masks and weapons synergize. -Comic book presentation style feels archaic. -Even after 2 years, game feels unfinished. VERDICT: Those looking for yet another bullet hell action roguelike will find a lot to enjoy here. Even if it feels like a faint shadow of games it's inspired by. If you stick with it and are okay overlooking many of it's shortcomings, you should feel safe picking this one up. Just don't expect to be blown away by any means.
