One of the most fun vr games in a while. Simple and fun. Well-optimized graphics. I can run it on Godlike at 90 fps smooth via Virtual Desktop. If you liked Windlands 2, you’ll definitely like this. This is actually more fun. It took me around 5 hours to get through the game with my first character on normal. Now I have 3 other characters left to choose from and different paths to take along the way for variety.
In line with Windlands 1/2 another game of locomotion vr fun, this time with heavier combat focus which felt alright
Superb.
Super fun, great vr mechanics and movement options with the suits. Somewhat limited weapons but the upgrade skill trees seem to add cool replayability. Multiple routes per level, full co op. The graphics style is fine and is well optimized. A game I love as an adult and still play, but if I was a kid that other VR friends this would be the coolest thing ever. Thanks devs well done
Windlands 2 was one of my all-time favorite VR games, and Titan Isles is a worthy successor. The most fundamental changes from the Windlands series are an increased focus on combat and a choice of 4 different exo suit types that each have their own movement and combat mechanics. If you want to play the game as if it were Windlands 3 you can use the Hunter suit with grappling hooks and a bow and arrow that will feel very familiar to veterans of the series. The Storm suit has the easiest controls for newcomers and fans of standard shooters, with dual plasma pistols and a jetpack that makes you feel like Iron Man. The Blink suit has a triple jump that was an interesting alternative to the other options, but I mainly stuck to the Hunter and Storm suits. The game campaign has about 10 levels and can be completed either single-player or up to 4-player co-op, though I only played in single-player mode. The gameplay loop is fairly straightforward--enter an open arena with a closed door, kill all the enemies, then proceed to the next area until you reach the boss at the end. Depending on your suit choice, you can dive into the action with weapons blazing for chaotic bullet-hell fun, or hang back and pick off enemies one at a time with a bow or sniper rifle. At the higher difficulty levels the number of enemies can be overwhelming as a single player so sniping at a safe-ish distance can be a key survival tactic. I found it interesting that you can completely bypass certain combat sections in a level by simply going around them, but eventually the game throws up a barrier that sends you back to your last completed section if you skip too far ahead. Unlike the Windlands games where you have unlimited lives, in Titan Isles you have 8 lives to complete a level before you have to restart from the beginning of the level. At first I found this frustrating when I would make it all the way to a boss only to fail and have to run through the whole level again, but as I got better I appreciated the added pressure of having limited respawns and enjoyed the thrill of beating several bosses on my last life. When you complete a level, you get chips you can use to upgrade any of your suits, and I liked the sense of progression and the upgrade options. After finishing the campaign you can keep playing a small subset of the levels, but there was no way to go back and replay any level you want which I found disappointing. There is also a New Game + option, which starts you back at the beginning of the campaign with all of your suit upgrades and makes the enemies a little more challenging, though I didn't notice a huge difference. Overall I highly recommend the game. The traversal across the huge open spaces feels amazing, and the combat never got stale for me. There are also some collect-a-thon targets and relics that offer good replay value for each level. It doesn't have the very challenging traversal sections that I loved in Windlands 2, but it includes about 10 epic boss fights that are even better than the handful in Windlands 2 which were my favorite part of that game. It sounds like these are even more fun in co-op, so definitely go in with friends if you can.
Titan Isles was a pretty decent game. I only played singleplayer. I found one class especially fun in singleplayer — the one with the jetpack that lets you jump and fly. It made the levels feel open and large, giving a strong sense of scale. The other classes weren’t as fun for me, but if you get good at them, they’re probably enjoyable too. They also felt more fun when you had teammates who picked different classes. The controls work perfectly in my opinion. There’s absolutely no jank in this game when it comes to controls or gameplay. After finishing the game, there’s still plenty to do if you’re someone who likes going for 100%, and there’s also an NG+ mode. I recommend this game — it was fun, and I believe that if you have one or more people to play with, it becomes even more enjoyable.
Well, this is a tough one... Playing this solo is not easy, especially in the beginning when your suit can't do enough damage and/or movement. Even more if you play with the "Hunter" suit - the bow is just super weak against bosses and your grappling hooks have initially very limited range. I was hoping for "Windlands 3" kind of game, but this is fighting for you life, no time to enjoy the scenery! All that hover changes in the Multiplayer (coop), which makes the game much easier and very enjoyable. I can definitely recommend playing - even campaign - in the public lobby (if you are the host, only your campaign will progress). The campaign is about 5h long, but if you want to level up all suits, you'll need about 4 times that. The suits are quite unique so replaying campaign with a different one is entertaining enough. Overall, after some rocky start, the game gets much better and the flying is just super enjoyable. Looking forward playing this more.
As a huge Windlands fan I came into this game with certain expectations but this is defo not Windlands 3 although you can play as hunter (one of four classes) with the well known grabble mechanics. It felt ok but the arenas are not designed just for the hunter. Some parts feel a bit difficult and right now the 2nd boss is undefeatable playing as a hunter (insta death by huge lasers, not dogable). That said, I then tried playing as Goliath (jetpack + shield) and it felt easier and more fun. Overall the design of the enemies are nice with some variaty and each class has an upgrate system that makes you more powerful as you progress. With 4 classes to try out this game has lots of replayability. Let's see if the hunter solo run gets some balancing.
