About
Tiny Sheriff is a 2D movement platformer where you use weapons as a means of transportation. Master your movement capabilities to take on increasingly daring challenges.

Your guns are more than just weapons—they’re your way of getting around! The knock-back from each shot propels you through the air, letting you dash, double-jump, and wall-bounce your way through treacherous terrain. But be careful—taking down enemies can throw you backwards, sending you hurtling into danger!

These showdowns are fast, chaotic, and unforgiving. Dodge incoming attacks, keep your momentum, and find the right moment to strike. Stay sharp, stay quick—hesitate, and you’re done for.

Cacti aren’t just scenery—they’re out to mess with you. Get too close, and you’ll be eating spikes. Step wrong, and you’ll quickly find yourself in a thorny mess.

full play here: https://youtu.be/86XAfDS6vfI short review here: https://youtube.com/shorts/3oBTNxeuz3Y Probably the most fun difficult platformer I've ever played. The game is incredibly fair and controls super well+has hidden routes you can get as you unlock your other weapons. I'm terrible at precision platformers and I did it, so I'm sure everyone else can too. The boss fights are actually really fun gattlebones was challenging, but definitely has a rhythm to it. The real hidden boss is the Punchy cactus and that stupid bouncy tumbleweed that part of the game was so challenging. Worth way more than the price of free.

Perfect game to play in between Hunt Showdown events to satisfy your 'every shot counts' gameplay. Especially if you missed Hunt's challenge trials.

game of the week
"Tiny Sheriff" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This 2D retro western themed "platformer" eschews the usual run-and-jump mechanisms that most platformers have for a mobile-phone like aim-and-propel movement gimmick where you use a variety of weapons to fling yourself around, making this feel as much like a minigolf mobile app as it does a platformer mobile app. This does not rescue the old, dead and defunct platformer genre. Imagine thinking that in 2025, gamers want platformers. I wonder why this was such a failure? Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. While I couldn't find this on the mobile app stores, everything about it looks and feels like it's a mobile app designed for mobile phones... for PC gaming enthusiasts, it's not going to give you a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2025. That alone is enough to disqualify this for recommendation. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
