Tibor je nekoć bio poput svojih vršnjaka. Mnogi su mu predviđali uspješnu slikarsku karijeru. No Tibor je odabrao vampirski put. It was fun to contribute a little bit in this back in the day; nice to see a refreshed version on more platforms and with added controller support.
A pleasant platformer with a warm and cozy aesthetic. If you're looking for something relaxing that's lovely to look at, but don't feel like playing a hidden object game, give this one a shot please! FULL PLAYTHROUGH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN571lZ24DA
This game literally took me back to my childhood. I cannot describe the feeling when I saw the reddit post that said that this game is finally making a comeback. Rating it 5/5, even my dad who's 50+ said he would love to play it again. Big thank you for the developers!
One of the very first games I ever played, and still one of the best platformers from my childhood. It’s so relaxing, with satisfying sound effects, a beautiful art style, and surprisingly good storytelling. Even after all these years, it remains a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!
After having finished Tibor and getting all achievements months back, I can say I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of vampire films I grew up with like The Little Vampire. I loved the Gothic Vibe, it reminded me of Ruby Gloom, The Addams Family and Casper. The graphics reminded me of a PS2 game in a good way. The platforming is good and the level design is well made. Overall Tibor: Tale of A Kind Vampire is a really good platforming game not as mainstream as a 2D Mario game or a 2D Sonic game but if you have any interest in 2D/2.5D platformers I recommend giving it a try.
This game was a huge part of my childhood and I'm glad to see it come to steam last year. The controls are better than I remember it being. The game hold up well. Love the platforming, the collectathon aspects and music. Can't wait for Tibor 2.
This is a remaster of a 2009 croatian game. Let's start with the original game. You are Tibor, you are now a vampire and will have to find a potion to revert it, for you and all your people. That's the plot. The game plays as a classic 2d platformer that could easily be labeled as shovelware. There's not a lot going on. All enemies consist of little animals like cats and bees that move back and forth. You can kill them either by stomping them or throw them potions. The only variety is spiders that go up and down, and boulders that fall in the last stages. The only small challenge will be to finish all levels at 100%, that involves collecting every coin, diamond, potion and bonus letter. There's no reward for doing so and you can just run to the end of the level ignoring everything. The huge design issue with this game is the lack of content and the amount of levels. Every 5 levels you change to a new area, which is basically the same as the last one. There's 2 areas with daylight, which is a little weird since you are supposed to be a vampire and all the night zones look almost the same. At 5 levels per area, 5 total areas plus one bonus stage per area, plus a final level, that means 31 levels where you just move forward and jump over pits. There's at least one fun level where you have to remove fire by turning off levers in different locations, adding a little puzzle element. It's unclear why they waited so much to add elements like levers. The game would have been much better with more variety, less levels and a better, more challenging design. Regarding the remaster, it basically just brings the game to modern audiences and fixes a couple of bugs from the original. It's still the same game, but at least now it's a little more solid. There's still small visual problems particularly with foreground graphics that are just floating in mid air, since you can move the camera down and see where you are not supposed to be seeing. It's a chill game with almost no difficulty, you can die by jumping into bottomless pits a ton of times and you will still finish the game with hundreds of lives. Is the game good for 2009 ? No. is it good nowadays ? Definitely not. Would I recommend it ? Barely, if you want something simple.
Beyond just the nostalgia I have for the title, this is, even now, a legitimately good old-school platformer that's certain to appeal to anyone looking for a fun, lengthy and surprisingly challenging platformer. There's a nice variety of stages and levels, I love the 2.5D aesthetic, and the switching between day and night - it's very easy on the eyes and this sort of graphic style appeals to me very much, very Trine-y. I did notice that some secret areas weren't so secret and once you finish the level, you can see Tibor just run into a wall and keep running, which I assume is the aftermath of widening the game to widescreen/full HD, but these are very minor nitpicks. Lovely to see it restored with care, in any case!
i am so very happy this game is still available 🥺 i still have the dvd i got from a newspaper where i first played it <33
To some, simply saying it's an Amiga-style platformer says enough. For others, this is a faithful and, in its way, gorgeous HD remake of an old-school platformer, the kind they literally don't make anymore. Very child-approachable and chill-vibes-only, also very, very simple compared to contemporary games. If you're not familiar with Amiga titles the levels are going to be longer and larger than you'll expect, with a ton of coins and gems scattered about. Levels do note when you've found 100% of the things to pick up, and early on the game assures you that there's always a route to get back through a level. Other thoughtful touches include a soft glow applied to all enemies so that they don't blend into the background, and being able to jump using face buttons, shoulder buttons or by pressing up. For as simple as it is, the game really has the feel of quality craftsmanship and restoration work. Don't go in expecting too much, but do enjoy on a quiet, rainy evening.
