In the flooded future world, mankind has built floating islands where electricity is harnessed during the raging thunderstorms. This unstable energy is crucial for survival, but also poses the greatest risk in this Tower Defense game.

Thunder Age is a very gorgeous-looking game with a straightforward and simple objective. You need to keep the city safe from the fast paced lightning attacks by building a defense system from only couple of different building types. No shooting (you have a water cannon in later levels, though, but I noticed I usually had no time to use it). Each level is different puzzle, and difficulty is increasing very fast. Randomness has some effect to difficulty starting from level 3. Game is also quite ruthless, you have very limited economy and that is why even one single mistake easily ruins everything. But fortunately there is a Restart button in pause menu! Also it seems that key for success is to plan your strategy beforehand, since when the storm is on, you will be very busy. Regardless of some flaws, beating the levels by finding a functional solution feels rewarding. An update: I'm now addicted to Survival mode.

Thunder Age is a standout tower defense! It sets itself apart visually from other games in the genre in a positive way. What makes this tower defense game unique is the ability to influence enemy paths with the deployable hexagon walls. The music adds a fantastic atmosphere to the gameplay. The game strikes the perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment, making it a pleasure to play.
It's good. The graphics are nice to look at and the game mechanics are solid. Couple of things I would love to see updated: - Highlight the hex currently under the cursor. Clicking the correct hex in a clump of structures is now too easy to miss. - Have a timer drop the cage automatically off a catchers some time after the cooldown finishes. Clicking the menu button should be the fastest way, but there should some automation. In some scenarios I find myself only dropping the cages around the map which leaves me no time to plan or build new routes.
Micro-management skill based TD. I am not skilled but this is still cool. Great music/atmosphere/art.
Quick and easy fix for tower defense itch.

Please note that I've played a bit more than displayed. My internet was down and it seems like steam didn't count that time. I think this could be a lot of fun for some time. Sadly, right now, I am struggling more with trying to click the correct building or hex than with the actual task at hand. That leads to more frustration than fun.
Good idea. Bad execution. Level 3 or 4 is a split island. You have to protect both ends. They are far apart and there's no GOOD way to keep up. Sort of sums up the whole thing past a certain point. If I had paid money I'd be upset. Maybe seeking a refund. I appreciate that this is free. But... I really wish I could recommend this game. But I can't. Sorry devs.
