Through the Kill Screen

This project somehow reminded me of the old game "How to get a neighbor." Only here in the main roles is a specific boy, whose name is Leon, and the actions themselves take place 10-15 years earlier. All in all, I can recommend this game. 8/10

RPG Maker strikes again! "Through the Kill Screen" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. Of course, there are some custom "assets" here, too, you can tell because they look even worse than the usual Kadokawa/RPG Maker stock assets that "amateur" developers typically rip off. Notably the developer here couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make an RPG... and that's the only thing RPG Maker can do properly... except it's not even very good for making RPGs. Instead, we have a 1980's inspired "adventure" game with a collection of crap, badly made minigames using basic components of RPG Maker MV... and they are craptastically bad. No wonder the "developer" had to pay Russians to write fake reviews for the game. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 8 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. "Through the Kill Screen" has the gamer gouging price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Awesome '80s childhood experience!

Not a bad game about children of the 80s. I really liked the horror elements, despite the fact that it is quite specific for such a game

In this game, the devil knows what happens and you are the owner. The most important thing to know is that when the rocks fall, the soup is not cooked, there are explosions everywhere and aliens will attack.

Quite a funny game where we can explore the city and learn a lot of interesting things, there is also a character improvement system and good music

Cool role-playing game, a little bit with horror movies. If you want to have a good evening with beer, then I recommend this game. It's like going back to the good old days in a gaming club or with a set-top box at the TV:D
