Berlin 1933. “Adolf Hitler is chancellor!” We all know the consequences this message bore. Unspeakable horrors and suffering would sweep across the world. Few would stand and fight the monstrosity that was the German Reich. Will you? Lead an underground resistance group Through the Darkest of Times.

About
Dark times mean fear and risks. The risk of being caught by patrolling National Socialists, who are looking for people who publicly stand against their point of view. The risk of being beaten up or even killed by the German military because we‘re opposing the regime. The risk of losing everything, including our loved ones. This is how we live. This is how we try to survive through the darkest of times.

You are the leader of a small resistance group in 1933’s Berlin, of ordinary people, from Jews to Catholics and Communists to Patriots who simply can’t stand aside. Your goal is to deal with small blows to the regime – dropping leaflets to spread awareness about what the Nazis are really up to among the people, painting messages on walls, sabotaging, gathering information, and recruiting more followers. And all of that while staying undercover – if the regime’s forces learn about your group, the life of each member is in grave danger.

Through the Darkest of Times is a historical resistance strategy game, focusing on conveying the somber mood of the period and the very real struggles of average people living in the 3rd Reich. Historical accuracy means that your small group of resistance fighters will not change the outcome of the war, nor will you prevent all of the Nazi’s atrocities, but you can certainly do everything in your power to save as many lives as you can and oppose the fascist system wherever possible.

Say no to fascist
I didn't know what to expect. I believe that the only war-themed game I played before this was "This War Of Mine", and while both games are good, this one also serves as a grim history lesson. Educational, realistic, and as a non-native living in Europe who only learned the surface level of WW2, this broadened that knowledge to a horrifying extent. Thank you to the developpers. This subject is especially poignant in the current global political climate.
When the world seems harsh because of dark times, this games proves that there will still be people who care despite the odds. The world can always be better but only if people care to have the courage.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

what an amazing game I love WW2 games and especially non-combat ones. This is like perfect for me: * WW2 * Underground partisans * Heavy choices * Members can be permanently removed(death, arrest, other cases....) * Boardgame mechanics It feels increasingly like a boardgame. A complicated and a fun one that is. But with the story and amazing atmosphere The story sometimes can feel a bit too much cuz it happens between the turns, and when you think of your gameplay strategy and wanna execute it(which requires a plan and a couple of turns). Sometimes the story happenes after every turn, which is not a problem as per say, but some of them can be up to 10 mins or some(or at least that how it felt) So I think the main weakness of this game is this balance between story and a gameplay. Even tho, I liked both of these aspects
Not the most gripping or sound gameplay, but the story and retelling of the nazi regime's rise to power is enough on its own to experience. We need more like this
Really thoughtful an well implemented. Heavy but strategic game-y enough that it's not unfun. It's not difficult to survive but you do get a sense of how difficult it was to do anything BUT survive.
This is a very accurate simulation of small resistances to the NSDAP. The emotional weight is right, and it covers the major historical benchmarks admirably without allowing the player (a member of a small resistance group in Berlin) to alter history, do massive deeds, etc. As a historian, I think game could actually be a valuable teaching tool, causing youngsters to ask questions like "who did burn the Reichstag?" or "Who was Horst Wessel?" etc. This could even be a good teaching tool for a high school class on post-Weimar German history (homework: do a playthrough, then have a class discussing the many references).
Interesting as a minigame concept. Garbage in terms of educational content or historic value.
