Great for holiday vibes, terrible for completionists’ sanity
If you want to dive head-first into the Christmas mood without spending a dime, this little festive hidden-object snack is a surprisingly generous treat. It looks simple, sure, but it keeps tossing new twists your way with 4 difficulty modes that shuffle object placements, change the rules, and occasionally leave you fumbling in the dark (literally). Easy tells you exactly what you’re hunting for, Normal and Hard make you guess the quantity and/or order, and Dark Mode hands you a flashlight and says “good luck, champ.” You don’t need Dark Mode for achievements, but it does crank up the replayability big time. Hints refill every 30 seconds, zoom feels great, you can change the color palette, the timer is optional, and the whole interface is snappy and instinctive. Add in cheerful Christmas music, and bam! Instant holiday spirit. Just be aware that while the gameplay loop is fun, levels are super short and extremely easy, usually lasting anywhere from 30 sec to 3 minutes even when you’re taking your sweet time. Where things get…less jolly is on the achievement side. Completionists, brace yourselves: the requirements are wildly grindy. You’ll be redoing everything over and over, and a big chunk of those achievements live behind a paid DLC. The game being free makes this more understandable, but the gap between “fun casual play” and “I must 100% this” is MASSIVE, and not everyone will enjoy that climb. Still, if you’re here for cozy vibes, quick levels, and a surprisingly flexible Christmas HOG with multiple modes you don’t usually see in the genre, this is a cheerful little gift you can unwrap for free. Just don’t expect a challenge, and maybe don’t expect your completion bar to fill before next Christmas. There's No Santa is one of literally hundreds of simple, minimalist 2D line art "Find 100 Hidden turnips" or whatever games... hunt through a simple illustration to find 100 hidden things. The first time I saw one of these I thought it was a fairly okay, if short experience... but the problem is, there's literally hundreds of these plaguing the store. They're fairly low effort when you think about what's needed to make a more genuine game. The whole thing could have been done in a web browser. We have to ask if Steam was intended to compete with Firefox, Chrome or Safari. I didn't spend thousands building a gaming rig so I could play glorified browser games. The other problem is just how many of these there are... they're practically spamming the Steam store at this point. It's close to pollution... mass produced slop that genuine game developers have to try to compete with to get visibility for their more seriously developed games. And that's not good for gamers, or for real developers. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as you're expected to pay up $3 USD to unlock content/DLC, the game should not be considered completely unlocked until you empty your wallet for the developer. This is misleading and predatory pricing on a product falsely marketed as "free". Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This isn't really a "free" game, it's got mobile app tier predatory pricing, which is the kind of thing PC gamers hate. That's just another reason not to bother downloading this "free" game.
4 levels to complete which can each be played 3 times, and the hidden items change location each time. you find a variety of xmas items like ribbons, bells, reindeers and so on. unfortunately you cannot obtain all the achievements from the base game alone, as the dlc which adds 5 extra levels also contains achievements.
"Ho ho ho!" are one of the sound effects you'll hear, amongst other laughs and noises as you click through all the hidden objects in each level. From snowman and stockings, to bells and candy canes, There's No Santa presents a quick game-play, but with each difficulty mode presenting a bigger challenge if you chose so in the options. I liked the multiple levels (plus DLC levels in you buy that), and option to adjust the difficulty of the game. The hidden objects are also fairly easy to find, which makes it great even for first-time players of the genre. The art and graphics are cartoon and mono-colour, but with each level having a different theme. So there are various scenes you can play. You can even change the BG color in the options if you dislike the white blinding BG. Overall, There's No Santa is worth playing. A job well done, devs!

Unfortunately impossible to complete the game without DLC. Overall, relatively easy point and click as a casual game. I dislike the custom cursor though, feels like a huge finger that's unable to click accurately on tiny objects.
There's No Santa is a hidden object game with a Christmas theme. You go through festive scenes and try to find all the listed items. The artstyle is colorful and cozy, fitting the holiday vibe. The music was okay and helped set the mood, but nothing too special. Overall, the game is simple but pleasant. You can earn all achievements by completing all levels and hidden object tasks. I got 100% in 20.3 hours. The game is completely free, so I didn’t pay anything. It was a nice little holiday-themed experience – if you're into hidden object games, give it a try!
