HEY!Platinum! We need chinese!
Está bien sin más, te lo puedes pasar en una tarde, aunque si no has jugado al TW101 está difícil de recomendar.
Juego cortito que reventé en la deck, nada destacable pero lo conseguí por menos de lo que sale una hamburguesa.
I was pleasantly surprised by this side-scrolling shooter. I found the PC port of Wonderful 101 unplayable so I was initially just going to shelve this game when I discovered in my steam library one day (I was a Kickstarter Backer so this was given to me automatically), but after playing the opening stage I discovered that this was a completely different style of game from the main game. You play as Luka, Wonder Red's troubled student, who has joined up with the Wonderful Ones. To pass his training and become a full-fledged member of the team, he must play a series of VR stages where he runs and guns through hordes of enemies. It's all fairly simple. He has to make use of three different bullet types (a rapid firing bullet, a short ranged scatter shot type, and a slow beam that ricochets off the walls) to destroy enemies (and everything in environment), dodge stage hazards, rescue hostages, and platform through each level. The action is fast and frenetic, although I do think it might be a little too fast as, in midst of the chaos of battle, I found it easy to lose track of Luka. That is the one improvement I would make to this fun little spin-off -- making him just a little more visual distinctive so you can see him better in the middle of all the colorful explosions. Best of all, the game doesn't ask you to draw shapes with the controller thumb sticks ;) It's a dose of the pure, non-stop adrenaline rush that put Platinum on the map.
Much better schmups than this exist. Visually, it is cluttered. The art director clearly is not good at 2D games. Gameplay has little depth to it. It is not bad, but why would you play it? Go check out Rive, or Layer Section.
This was apparently a kickstarter goal that came for backers of the Wonderful 101 Remaster and is now sold separately. Honestly it shows that this isn’t a fully-fledged standalone or -spinoff game. But for what it is it offers some solid run & gun gameplay with dual stick shooting mechanics. The four levels - all consisting of two stages plus one boss stage - can be finished in around two hours. The game is not hard because you get so many lives and continues per level that going game over is almost impossible. But highscores and online rankings are the true endgame, so who really wants to get into this has a solid challenge ahead. The level and encounter design gets repetitive rather quickly because there aren’t many enemy types. The boss fights are mostly more annoying than fun because of the huge amount of bullets they suck up. But the core gameplay is fast, snappy and satisfying enough to be fun over the short course of the game. Unfortunately the stages and overall graphics are quite ugly and don’t transfer the cool feeling of the original. The only thing that reminds of the original are the cutscenes with the witty dialogue and idiotic story. Unlike Wonderful 101 The Wonderful One: After School Hero is nothing special or something that has to be played by action-game fans. But it is a solid waste of time on a lazy sunday afternoon that is often on sale for under 3€. So if you are interested in more Wonderful 101 humor or are a huge fan of the genre get this on a sale.
