The Walsingham Files follows the same formula that was presented by the same author in the previous story, "Silver Creek Falls". Some small town in the US outback puzzled with some mysterious killings, and the details of the investigations lead us somewhere abroad, with the Interpol, Scotland Yard and God know what's more involved in the matter. Intriguing as the story goes, this particular case shows the technical limits of the developer. You see, we are discussing there only the first chapter, an intro part of the story which can be seen in about 1 hour or less. And still, there are multiple bugs which may ruin the game or just give you some unintended questions like "what was that?" Like when you return to the crime scene and entering the loop in the game which will result in the crush, or when you enter one warehouse and then exit it through the same door to found yourself in the other place! I'd say, this game worth your interest if you like to play detective and read visual novels. As of the gameplay, though... The developer is the artist, not the tech-savvy man, that's obvious. So come prepared for some glitches. As of mark, I'd say, 6/10. Might be a good buy if discounted or bundled. I'm speaking about the whole The Walsingham Files now, not the freeware 1st chapter. Then again, it's still a work in the progress, the 3rd chapter still somewhere in development, so if you like to get things altogether, maybe it is better to wait until it's finally done and finished.

Tolles kurzes "Detektiv" spiel. Ich persönlich mag so blutige indi kurz spielchen :D Das 1. Chapter ist gratis und hat sogar Erfolge! Also definitiv kein Verlust und in meinen Augen auch keine Zeitverschwendung :) + Erfolge ~ + Gratis
Yet another poorly written slog through the world of Sara the annoying detective. Only subject yourself to this garbage for the easy achievements. Don't expect to find any enjoyment in yet another RPG maker copy & paste tile set with terrible writing. I can't imagine the kind of person who plays this and runs out to pay $7 for chapter 2, knowing how badly written this is. Honestly if you are willing to pay for this kind of game, do yourself a favor and actually buy RPG maker and make your own games. At least you might have some fun being creative on your own and make something tailored to your personal interests. But playing these random blips of junk from other people is not worth paying for. It's just barely worth playing for free and even then it's only to fluff up your achievement score. --------------------------- Skimming the other reviews, who the heck puts 33 hours into this? It's a simple point and click adventure that you can't fail and it takes maybe 30 minutes to finish. Seriously? 33 hours? And they "love this game" ? There's either a lot of fake reviews for this or someone's brain is just broken. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?

The start to an interesting mystery, much like with Silver Creek Falls. There are a couple quality of life improvements that can be made, a minor bug or two, and it tells you upfront that it won't hold your hand and that you need to take notes on your own, but the puzzles can still feel very difficult. Though not on Steam, a guide was easy enough to look up if you need it, which you may. It's free - no reason not to give it a try.
