A must if you're a the tribe fan! I see a lot of people complaining of bugs and that it's too limited, but I was honestly very impressed, taking into concideration that this is a low budget game made from a series that's over 20 years old it's a very impressive and enjoyable game :D Also love how they implemented so many characters, even tomorrow characters! would play again 8/10
Hello People. Hello Tribe World! CED818 here! Whats The Tribe(1999-2003)? The Tribe is my favorite teenage drama television show of all time. I love the show and characters even now, but this time out...I get to be one. Start off customizing your character the way you want to look. Choose your name and gender then take off on your adventure. If your a fan of the 'Mall Rats of old' I must let you know that the story is different from what you may remember, but in a good way. Gather items, craft items, complete quest, cook and engage in turn based combat. The storytelling hit me just as hard as the background music! "ITS FIRE" (as I would shout out on stream). I love this game so much I'm playing through it a second time now that its on Steam!!! RPG Maker isn't a bad thing. It works well here and the people who developed this game using that engine need a round of applause in my book. One day I hope to see a 'The Tribe' game in full on 3d with a multiplayer element but until then I'll play this multiple time cause while going through the game you get different dialog options. Who doesn't like different dialog options! lol. Check it out. Keep the Dream Alive.
Well, The Tribe got its own game, or to me more precise, a proof of concept of a game. As a game the initial version doesn’t cut it at all. What you’re getting is more or less a clickable episode of the show, with you as the star. The scenes gives an illusion of being open-world, but you’ll quickly find that whatever you do has little impact on the story. As a proof of concept, it is workable, but as a game it’s lacking
I'm not sure this is a game yet. It seems like I have no control over anything that happens in the story. Even the sexual orientation of my character is already defined. All the battles seem to either be can't win or can't lose, my choices merely effect how soon that outcome will be achieved. The crafting system is incomplete to say the least. Everything has a success rate of 100% and you get the exact same amount of experience (5) no matter what you craft. There doesn't seem to be much depth to this game. I have only cooked things twice and I have already maxed out my cooking skill. Please actually finish this game or release some free DLC that makes this game look like the tutorial that it clearly is.
Типичная поделка в рпгмейкере, где склеена куча механик и, как и полагается таким поделкам, ни одна не доведена до конца.
This game, is aesthetically pleasing, but when you can't get past the character creation screen because the image keeps freezing so you have no idea how to progress, well I wouldn't consider that a good game. And not having accessability options like full screen mode, etc is a bit strange. And the audio, you don't know which audio setting is for what audio. And when you change the audio settings, it doesn't reflect the actual in game audio either. If there's something I always start by doing, it's lower the volume so it's comfortable for me wearing headphones. And full screen the game. Here neither of those worked. I wished this game was better, because I watched the tribe, and have been a fan for like two decades already. I wish I could give it a better review, but I couldn't even get past the character creation screen, and not for a lack of trying. Not even remapping keys helped. The fact that there's also no way of exiting the game, doesn't help. From the video and screenshots it looks like a cute game, and aesthetically pleasing. But when it's unplayable, well I can't do anything except ask for a refund for it. Because with how it currently sits, it's not worth its full price. I might get it in the future if it recieves updates to fix its issues. But until then, I'm going to hold off, and I recommend you all to hold up until it has had patches, if it ever will get them. And to respond to the devs, all of my drivers are always up to date. I've been gaming for over 20 years, it's the first thing I check when I game doesn't work. So a friend of mine, gifted me this game outside of steam. And I still have the same issue, but I managed to get past it, and could play for like an hour before it crashed again and stopped working. And the worst part, it didn't save any progress. But I did get it back running and it worked better the second time around, but still have issues with the character creation screen not wanting to progress. But from what I did play, It's a nice looking game, I'll give it that. And since I have gamed as much as I have, I could figure out the controls without having a tutorial for it. Speaking of tutorial, there should be a proper tutorial in the beginning, to teach you which buttons to use for what, and how to do things. I shouldn't have to go into the settings and check the controls to know how to play it. Another thing, I know you can make the game full screen by pressing f4, but there should be an option that allows you to do that in settings, along with better audio settings. Then in the menu for settings, there should be a button that allows you to exit to desktop. You shouldn't have to force quit the game to turn it off. The story is all right, considering it follows season one. And the art is beautiful. I don't mind that it was made in rpg maker. Everyone starts somewhere. It's a good start for an indie rpg that has developers that might not have worked on many games before, if any. There are still a lot of bugs, like it crashes, you get stuck in places when trying to forage. And having to reboot the game. And for me when I was crafting it would break and I would have to stop crafting and reboot. The game glitches when trying to click through the text, and I wish there was a skip button for the text, because I don't always want to read it. It'd be nice of the actual skills do anything for you in the game. Like I get that the farming skill gives you more crops etc, but it'd be fun if they did more than just that. And that you didn't max out the level for them in like ten minutes of doing said skill. It gets a bit boring. For me, this game still gets a no recommend. Because for it's price, and where the game sits, it's not worth the full prize. And I hope it gets updates and gets improvements, and most of all, quality of life updates, as some other here have suggested.
First of, It is a lot of fun to see the old characters from the show and feel like you are a part of it! The artstyle captures the characters well. The game kind of looks like and also plays like a GBA-game on an emulator, which is fine if you are used to that. It kind of fits the late 90's / early 2000's vibes. It took me a while to figure out the best way of using the controls but after I did I had no issues with it. The storyline is linear, meaning you don't have a lot of choices, but I guess you could see it as an visual novel kind of game. The battles are turnbased and the mechanics not hard to learn. If you just know what to expect from the game you won't be as dissapointed and might actually like it. :)
Acutally, I am torn about this game. I don't want to give it a thumbs down, but it's not exactly a masterpiece. So lets break it down a little: pro: -for fans of the show this is pure nostalgia -it is really nice to be able to interact with the characters of the show -the artwork is gorgeous -the music is well picked -the story is near enough to the show so you roughly know where you are in the story, even though its not all in chronological order. but we want to experience something new, not replay the show, so this is perfectly fine. -the fight system is alright, kinda like an old „final fantasy“ or „breath of fire 3“ Con: -you can't pick the games resolution -the german translation is not very well, there are grammar errors and sometimes words are just missing from sentences. -it says you can pick between english and german but I didn't find an option to change the language anywhere ingame and wasn't asked when installing which language I want. -it's still kinda buggy... i.e. If you accidentally look into a mirror you have to change your appearance (or at least pick the same options you had selected before) you cant just quit the process. Or you can't end a day on purpose by going to bed. you wake up and its still night and you can't really continue the story etc. -the games engine is not programmed to well, i.e. you cant pick any controls you like, which would be alright if you could at least look up the controls, but there is no „help“ option. For changeing furniture colors I had to ask the support on facebook. Granted, they answered fast, but there is no way to find out how to do it besides trial and error ( it's page up/page down in case anyone was wondering) etc. -farming process is very tedious -It's completely infuriating to me that you walk past a dozen forageable items in cutscenes but get no chance to pick them up because you cant go back to get them. Just don't show the sparkle in the cutscenes then. -You can pick you answers when interacting with people. Now this should be a positive, but the answeres are mostly saying the same thing, just formulated a little differently. It's not like you get a choice, when Lex is flirty with you that you can choose to flirt back or insult him or something. The game gives you 2 answers to choose from that both basically say, no thanks. At that point there is no need to even give us a choice. -but what bugs me the most is this: you can't just decide not to play the story, go exploring and meet people. You get teleported places you need to go and forage a few maps at the time and talk to the people that are there, but you can't leave there until you have found your objective. Sometimes you have farmed the whole area and have to wait for respawn, and when you have what you need, you can't decide to stay in the location. The story teleports you to the next area you need to find stuff. In conclusion: I was very excited for this game. But even though my expectations weren't to high, because I knew the developers are new to the gameing scene I am a little disappointed. Nostalgia and storywise its a great experience, but gaming wise it has alot of room for improvement. I hope they keep working on it and learn a little from titles like stardew valley. I will finish playing the story, and maybe my biggest complain will vanish later in the game. We will see. I will edit if something changes :) KTDA
Cute little game full of nostalgia if you were a fan of the Tribe TV series growing up. I wish it was longer and I had more freedom to explore. Especially since the story was so short, I felt like there are certain parts where the game rushed you to the next area while there were still items to collect. The end says "To be continued" so I hope they choose to expand and add more to the story! Would love DLC of a part 2!
