Short Fun Scary At Times, Not Bad For The Price

This game is really frustrating and should not have positive reviews. By the 2nd and 3rd parts is where the game gets difficult and frustrating. What they do not tell you or show you in the trailer is that you will be running from monsters and hiding in closets. You cannot just press E to hide either, you have to move into the closet and press E to close it. Think your safe in the closet? I was hiding the closet in one part and the monster still killed me while I was in there. I do not know how? The worst part is the monsters don't walk off when your hiding in the closet, they literally stand outside until you get out ready to kill you instantly. There is one part with a corridor and spikes and a strong monster (baseball bat with spikes) you find a bat with spikes, I thought maybe I could run past the monster, which I did and escape it but no the room is black so I can’t see. I have had to repeat this part 5-6 times now. Saving is rubbish as you need to find the vinyl record to take to the player to save except most parts have a monster in that will probably kill you before you save the game so you have to repeat parts over. This game is really frustrating and draining. Instead of being fun its annoying. I will keep trying to progress but really dislike this game. You will be reading notes that are boring, and finding keys in other rooms to use in other areas or finding objects to use in other rooms or finding door codes. Frustrating experience and a mess of a game. How long to beat states 1-2 hours, I am still going and unlikely will finish it in 4 hours as I keep dying. Shame as I really wanted to like this game. Glad i only paid $4 for it in the sale. Would I recommend this poor game? no! The voiceover guy doesn’t pronounce words properly? Was that deliberate? Mannequin for example is not pronounced properly, and there are other areas too. Why can't you select weapons with 1-4? or use the medikit with button 5 or M so as the monster damages you, and smashes you, you bave to bring up the menu and right click the medikit to use it, therefore blockign the screen while the monster still smashes you. Common sense is controls such as 1-4 to swap weapons and M for medikit but no. Lazy Developers. The game was made in unity and constantly goes grey, hangs, and crashes too. I'll keep playing and see if I can finish this frustrating game.
A Charming Indie Thriller With Surprising Narrative Depth
The Story of Henry Bishop is a small‑budget first‑person psychological thriller that punches well above its weight in story and character — and despite its simplicity, it’s an experience worth playing if you love atmospheric horror and narrative mysteries. Reviews from players lean very positive, showing that the game has resonated with many despite its indie limitations. What makes this game stand out most is its commitment to story‑driven exploration and atmospheric tension. You step into the shoes of Henry Bishop in a haunting old mansion where things are very not what they seem. Throughout your playthrough, you’ll encounter riddles to solve, environmental cues to interpret, and a mystifying plot that steadily pulls you deeper into its world. Unlike bigger horror titles, the game doesn’t rely on flashy mechanics or complex combat. Instead, it hinges on pacing, tension, and narrative mystery — letting you uncover twists and secrets at your own pace. Encountering new rooms, solving puzzles, and reading cryptic notes all contribute to an eerie and immersive atmosphere that feels bigger than its price tag. Acting and voice work here may be more modest than in AAA productions, but that’s part of its indie charm. Performances lend genuine personality to Henry and the strange world he navigates, carrying you through the story even when other elements are simple or rough around the edges. Replayability is subtle but there: the game offers multiple endings, so choices you make early on can lead to different outcomes, encouraging at least one more playthrough to see the full story unfold. It’s not built for dozens of hours of repeat play, but those alternate conclusions make returning worthwhile if you’re curious about narrative threads you almost uncovered. For a low‑price indie thriller with heart, mystery, and genuine narrative appeal, this is one that stays with you after the credits roll. Verdict: A delightful indie psychological thriller with memorable storytelling and worthwhile replay value.
9 / 10 — Recommended
Clanky combat, but a short and worthwile story.
