"The Sinking of the Dream Chaser" is a short and somewhat poorly written more-book-than-game point and click adventure slapped together with Unity (but it might as well have been done with Adventure Game Studio). The mediocre plot follows a robot with amnesia and you have to work out what happened and where your master is. Okay. Unfortunately the technical delivery here is very poor and that lead to this being a failure on Steam Direct. There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers couldn't work out how to relate their narrative through the game mechanics, and decided instead it would be better to compete with reading a book for your time. We're here to play games, not read through hours of garbage intersituals. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 30 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. To make matters worse, not only does this have pixelcrap "art", the pixelcrap isn't even applied consistently across the whole game. That jarring mismatch ruins any genuine "retro" authenticity from this pixelcrap nightmare. This also means the developer knew they could have done better, but maybe they chose not to, on purpose... that's a massive disservice to gamers. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 4 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.

A Fantastic and short point and click adventure. It has a few minor bugs, but the game is great. Highly recommend checking it out.

It’s free and short, but I can’t recommend it. The gameplay lasts around 20–25 minutes and is entirely linear. The story starts off somewhat interesting, but the ending feels rushed. The art is also inconsistent: the characters are done in great pixel art, but the backgrounds use a different style, and the pickable items yet another, making the overall immersion suffer.
Nicely created, well written. I look forward to seeing more from this creator.
Great story-telling game in this short & sweet adventure! It was very engaging finding out both what happened to our character as well as what happened to the world around us at the same time. The atmosphere and mystery kept growing eerie as events unfold which kept me curious exploring what's next. The visual aspect of the story is good & simplistic, which serves well for conveying the atmosphere and immersing further into the tone and the plot.
Short but interesting title, the plot keeps you curious until the end.
