About
Dive into the dark depths of an abandoned hospital in The Silence, a thrilling single-player horror game. Alone and abandoned, you awaken in a gloomy corridor, surrounded by crumbling walls and an oppressive feeling of isolation. But the silence is deceptive because you are never truly alone. A sinister presence stalks you, watching your every move from the shadows.
In this intense but short horror game you will constantly feel uneasy and threatened. The darkness is omnipresent, the corridors are labyrinthine, and every room holds new horrors. The echo of your footsteps and the creature scratching on the cold ground are the only sounds that break the oppressive silence. Your heartbeat becomes the only beat that tells you that you are still alive - at least for now.
The atmosphere of "The Silence" is designed to push you to your psychological limits. The game creates a deep sense of unease as you frantically search for a way out. Your senses are overwhelmed and your fears are increased immeasurably. Every second in this hospital is a test of your nerves and sanity.

I have strongly mixed feelings about The Silence. It's hard for me to place it, but I will share my thoughts. First of all, the map is designed really well in many ways. I found that it forces you to be creative, it's not easy to remember any paths, yet there's many recognizable places as you become more familiar with the map. The map does not reward you for plowing through it, which is also really good. You're better off by staying aware and keeping track of your position. Now, as for optimization of the game, I am greatly disappointed. The game is very demanding for it's short size and relatively simple graphic options. When I actually reached a playable state where frames didn't bother me, I was at a point of almost 3x pixels downscaled, that's not a good sign. For context, I'm on one of the most high-end PC's on the market. The lighting in The Silence does fine for the most part, though it has some interesting flashlight behavior. I noticed that the flashlight grows into a game mechanic that can be sort of "controlled", once you get a good feel for it. It's always funny when something that could be considered a slight flaw in a game, actually becomes something valuable for the said game. I like that. Some parts of the lighting definitely have a negative impact on frames, I could feel it almost every single time I was 2-3m away from light and looking in it's direction. I'm glad to see the recent balance change of Teddy Bears now spawning at random places, I found great challenge in it (haven't had the chance to play when the teddy bears were in fixed positions, but I imagine how easy and uninteresting it would be). I think it's a good change, and I imagine that significantly has changed the game for the better. I had some initial skepticism and confusion around the crouch feature, I saw no use of it in the game, but I had to test it, and it works as it should. Very nice For the AI of the game, I found it super soft, almost to the point of I would just ignore it. I really think that the AI deserves some further improvements. Had to try hard mode as well, that's where things for sure get a lot more interesting, it surely raises the intensity of the entire experience in The Silence. Now, overall, I really found the game enjoyable. It was challenging, and I kept having an urge to go for more (rare feeling in indie horror games, so The Silence really created something good), but everything is counterproducted by the lack of optimization. It will always be limited how fun a game REALLY can be, when frames are low. I hope the developer has the necessary resources and skills to optimize the game further and reach a more playable state. Would love to play this some more, but I feel too limited by the lack of performance in its current state. Can't wait to see if this will be improved, I would love to continue!

Also, worauf wartest du noch!? PS: Achja, die Tochter ist echt scheiße verwöhnt, man! Du weißt was ich meine, wenn du es durchgespielt hast HAHAHA
Wouldn't run smoothly unless everything was pink. Incredibly unoptomized.
One of the best horror experiences i've ever had! such a great game for under 3$. Totally recommend! :)
Got the bad ending twice. A fun realistic horror game that takes place in an underground abaondened hospital with a dark unsettling atmosphere and a red creature always lurking around. Very fun and will try to get good ending in the future
找到了五个泰迪熊以后,还是不能走 说要还要找一个 我打你的那个
So i'm running this on the latest Ayaneo Kun handheld; it runs normal when you optimize it in the adrenaline software (only thing weird is that when i go into the game and specifically put medium settings, the whole gamma turns red and sometimes flashes white when looking in a certain angle.) Other than that - movement and controls feel well.
Very athmospheric small game
