Finished the game, had a fun time at first and later it became a "click here, run through prompts without reading much, click there, finish the quest" type of experience. The idea of meeting random people became a tiring grind, so I wasn't willing to read their descriptions and was speeding through. I also had an issue finishing the quest of killing a cemetery monster for Orist Echempes, after killing it there was no option to say "Yes" when asked if I did it, so the quest was never finished. The possibility of changing cloaks, rings, and weapons mid-fight is too much of a cheat, fighting becomes too easy. I came here looking for a game similar to Roadwarden, but that wasn't it. I wish the game wasn't so simplified and had more meaningful quests which provoked an emotional response from the player. It would be better if taverns in more cities had some quests and if you could see what books you've already read.
Very fun and imaginative. has several right and wrong turns that lead to death. Excellant.
An interesting RPG based on old "chose your own adventure" style gamebooks, such as the Lone Wolf series. There is definitely some strategy involved here...and you're going to need to chose which skills you want to level up carefully so you can continue the quest easily. I found myself constantly short on funds to build up my skills, which meant I had to figure out ways to "grind" in a game that really isn't designed for grinding. But...that could have also of been bad luck on my end as well. Or poor choices. Either way, this is a great option (for Free none the less) if you remember playing those old single player gamebooks and want to relieve some of those memories.
What a fun game! It's like the ultimate choose your own adventure book. There was a good story, the mechanics were both interesting and familiar, and the music/art really helped paint the picture along with the story and dialogue. It was a great way for me to revisit D&D style role-playing and get my son to actually enjoy reading! Great work
