About
The Passing Bell is a psychological visual novel focused on the storytelling, atmosphere and narrative exploration. Trapped inside a surreal, ever-shifting manor, you must navigate its corridors and understand what's hidden within its walls. Time, space, and identity have collapsed. To uncover the truth, you must piece together a tragic history.
You wake up in a dark house.
Corridors stretch into nothingness, rooms reshape themselves behind your back, and doors appear and vanish. You have no memory of who you are or why you are here. But you are not alone. You share this shifting space with three strange inhabitants, none of whom seem to acknowledge the others:
An arrogant young scientist obsessed with a lost research paper.
A scarred old man burning the last remnants of a life he refuses to talk about.
A faceless wooden doll waiting patiently in a dying greenhouse because of a promise she can't quite remember.
They will ignore you, lie to you, and scream at you. But they are the key to what has happened.
Piece Together a Fractured Reality
Explore an environment where the architecture is dictated by psychology. To progress, you’ll need to pay attention to what isn’t being said. Read discarded letters, investigate documents, and solve environmental puzzles to uncover the dark history binding this place together.
A Story with No Easy Answers
This is a story about the cost of blind ambition and the heavy weight of regret. As you gather evidence, you will force the house’s inhabitants to face truths they have spent a lifetime burying. Unravel a mature, tragic narrative about a brilliant mind pushed to the brink by unfortunate circumstances, family illness, and a love left to wither.
Can you put the pieces back together?
