The Parallax Effect

Not sure how to play this game and it should be optimised. I'm uninstalling it rn.

The Parallax Effect is an abandoned early access multiplayer only first/third person arena shooter/sandbox. Gameplay consists of trying to avoid the bugged hellscape of an incomplete game, and abusing the admin console to grief other players, because the developer apparently didn't bother to lock it up. But don't worry, the griefing has stopped... because, as supported by SteamDB, there's nobody playing the game. Nobody playing = Nobody griefing. Modern problems require modern solutions! The game was developed by one person, which is an entirely possible thing to do. It's also entirely possible to drive a car using only your feet. That doesn't mean it's a good idea, in fact, more often than not, it's going to end in disaster. Like Parallax Effect, which was abandoned in an incomplete state back in 2019. The quality here is very low, the whole game seems to have been slapped together by putting a bunch of asset store and stock game assets in a blender. While there was a single player option, the developer seems to have removed that and leaves the requirement to surrender your email address to create an account, instead of using Steamworks. It's unwise to surrender personal information like an email address for "free" games unless you can trust the source, and here, there's nothing to suggest the risk is worthwhile. Remember, if the product is free, YOU are the product. It's important for gamers to stay safe, even with games available on Steam.

I would actually like this game if I could register for it. Literally spent 40 minutes trying to create an account (which this game didn't have originally like a year ago). After those 40 minutes I got so fed up I entered some made-up information into the form and that worked! What the hell dev?! So my actual information doesn't work but one I just made up does? I even used my second email and that still didn't work! Fix this issue!

Being a software developer myself, I really wanted to like this game. And I'm really impressed by all the work Danstarr13 put into creating this game. [*]When you start the game, you have no idea of what you're supposed to do. And after 1.3 hrs of gameplay it's still not really clear how this game is supposed to be played. [*]Your initial inventory size is tiny. Even if you're lucky enough to find eg. a briefcase or backback, the number of extra slots is barely enough to store the items you need. [*]The purpose of saving and loading is unclear. When I tried loading a game after first saving it, I still started at te beginning with an empty inventory. [*]Considering how few slots you have in your inventory, there's way too many meters to keep track as you're trying to explore an area. [*]When it gets dark, you're hunted by some creature. It's totally unclear how to protect yourself from such creatures. Also, you're screwed if you don't have a flashlight. [*]It requires quite some grinding just to obtain the most basic weapons & armor. Considering you lose all of your items when you get killed and your inventory is tiny, this is very frustrating. [*]The website you register on looks like it's created in the MySpace era. [*]The graphics of the game itself are very reminiscent of 1990s games and don't look nearly as nice as one would suspect from the screenshots in the store. The graphics are too basic and the gameplay is too frustrating for me really give it a thumbs up in its current state...

graphics are bad even for a free game EDIT: this game has been removed from the steam store which was the best update provided for this game
