About
The untamed wilderness of Alaska is beautiful, cold, and unforgiving. As a high-profile fugitive on the run, this desolate landscape is your only hiding spot, with your dog as your sole companion. But in these woods, the peaceful silence is a lie. The environment is not just your hideaway—it is the hunting ground for something that belongs here more than you do.
"The Pale Mimic" is not an infinite survival game; it is a linear, narrative-driven horror experience with a definitive beginning and end.
Your cabin is your only refuge, but safety is an illusion. On most days the core of your existence is hunting large game just to survive a little longer, with only brief respite at the cabin to plan your next move. On other days, the forest will have unexpected surprises for you.
When outside, the hunt begins.
When food runs low, you must venture into the frozen forests, where your dog is your guide and key to tracking anything. What starts as a simple hunt for game quickly turns into a struggle for survival. You will track, kill, and butcher large game, but this process is far from easy. As you stalk your prey, something is watching. Keep your wits about you, lest the hunter become the hunted.
You must bring the meat back to survive, but the creature is waiting for you to turn your back on the woods. It is fast, strong, and relies on a terrifying form of mimicry to lure you out. As a stalker, it prefers to avoid direct confrontation. It might mimic your dog’s whine to make you open the door, the sound of prey to trick you, or a familiar voice to lure you into a trap. Out here in the middle of nowhere, imitation is the highest form of horror.

Fantastic story-line. I would DIE for Rocky in real-life as well! I only wish that the game has been a bit longer and that it also continued to new areas and maps. It would've been cool if it had a flash back sector of the game that told more about the experiments that were done during the creation of the Mimic, Overall it was a really fun game and I hope that a sequel will come out one day!
A one session horror game, maybe two... there is some good atmosphere hunting in the snowy forest w Rocky "the real MVP of the whole experience" and some interesting backstory, the game plays well and I don't have any complaints about my experience... HOWEVER, I do think that there is a bit too much repetition, anything past your first encounter with the monster mimicing voices you're just left to sit in your cabin... there's the scene of the monster trying to "break in" by crawling up to the windows but I just never felt genuinely threatened, just jump scared. I feel like there is some missing mechanics or something of the sort to make the experience more intense or scary. I do think that this game is as intended, so no hate towards the dev ofc, was just missing a little something to seal the deal and keep me hooked

I achieved 100% of the trophies before writing this review. A very atmospheric and slightly scary horror game with a cool idea, which is unfortunately ruined by how heavily scripted it is! It has 20 chapters (days) in which you need to survive deep in the Alaskan wilderness while being hunted by a Mimic - a creature that can, well, mimic the voices of your friends and your dog. It's a great idea, but all the encounters are scripted! It's not like you go into the woods and suddenly hear something, triggering a random encounter. No, no! You are literally led to a specific place where a scripted attack will happen. There is no variety and not even an open world to explore, which makes the game repetitive and disappointing. I don't want to roast this game, so here are the pros: - Great atmosphere - the developers surely know how to create an unsettling environment. - A bit scary - while the encounters are scripted, they did make me jump a few times. - Story - it's OK. Nothing more, but nothing less either. - The cabin - your main base really feels like a safe space. - The dog - Rocky really feels like your companion, not just a soulless mesh of pixels. Overall: I'm giving it a positive review because of the pros mentioned above, but I don't think it fully deserves it. I hope there will be Pale Mimic 2 with an open world and random encounters, like Skinwalker Hunt or Folklore Hunter, in the future, because there is a lot of potential here - it just needs to be utilized!
Well worth my time. I can see the love that the inspiration came from & even though I wasn't particularly super scared at any point, I was genuinely intrigued and wanted to see where it would take me and the ending did not disappoint.
This game is genuinely peak. 10 stars out of 5, keep making games..

Игра интересная, но, ужасно короткая. Буквально 2 вечера после работы поиграл и... конец:(
