About
In The Pale Deep, you'll be playing as a series of cadets in doomed missions on board "The Diving Bell" vessels. However, with every lost cadet, you learn a little bit more about Neptune's ecosystem.
You have no weapons. All you have is a foghorn, a decoy launcher, and your research tools. There is no fighting, only distracting, scaring, and hiding.
You have a camera and a radar, but just because you don't see anything on those, doesn't mean you're safe. For example, a sudden drop in temperature could indicate a presence.
You can log everything you learn in the mission database, and you can access it any time to aid in facing familiar creatures. However, none of that matters if your equipment has buckled under the pressure, or if you've encountered something no one else has before.
Not only will we learn more about Neptune through these missions, but we'll learn how to develop better equipment. Research & Development is always making progress with the help of your missions into the planet.
The effective tactics to defend against the inhabitants of Neptune are randomized and different for every playthrough. Knowledge of this ecosystem gained through previous playthroughs or by watching others will be useless.
Deep down within Neptune, lies an ocean of water and ammonia. One day, some cadet will be the first to see it, and what lies within it.

If you want a trial-by-error game, look no further. The tutorial gives you some basic level understanding of the instruments you will be using.. but nothing prepares you for the descent. In the beginning, unsure of really how to use the camera and recorder - I was mince meat in my vessel. I learned to create a routine of constantly taking pictures and checking the audio for any anomaly action. Still learning how to defend myself as the tools to combat these aggressive anomalies are at your disposal to figure out by using and praying to the heavens it goes away and you can keep on your mission. The upgrades you can get seem useful and I am wondering if there is a bottom or endgame. Overall having fun and on mission 11.
A solid 'monitor for changes' game! I'm a sucker for these games and this one feels quite scary in that you have to keep track of many small things. Its a learning experience in where dying makes it easier for you in the future. I'm a big fan of the database system. Cons: - The controls feel quite basic, some change in the controls would be nice (eg; speed slider/direction rather a knob than both sliders) - You get used to the loop of checking all instruments, maybe a few more could be nice? - The Speed slider feels very weird, sometime it makes a noise at low thresholds, sometimes it doesn't Pros: - VERY immersive, I find myself quite locked tf in when checking instruments for issues - Finding an anomaly and NOT knowing what to do at first is thrilling - Finding an anomaly and trying to remember what to do is even more thrilling and rewarding. I feel it is VERY fun and exciting for something with so little is terms of game-play mechanics. The graphics are simple and effective. I like it and will love playing more and excited to see any new things!

Creative horror-ish game about diving into Neptune Unfortunately corporate doesn't wanna give us guns so we have to survive with a foghorn and some funky baloons Upgrades do exist but technically all that is needed is the knowledge of enemies' weaknesses to beat Death isn't just another jumpscare so if you dislike those you need not worry Duck Rating: 9/10
I couldn't make heads or tails of what to do in this game. The point of the game is to use the information you learn by failing repeatedly to figure out how to counter the entities on the planet and avoid them while taking pictures and descending further into the unknown. The tutorial itself gets you familiar enough with the controls of the vessel they're easy enough to learn. My issue with this was there was no consistent indication of anything happening before I died. While slowly going down, you stop and hear a tapping on the ship but you're never sure if it's an entity or just random noise due to the lack of feed back. (Sometimes creatures don't appear on the radar at all, this may be deliberate I'm really not sure) That's really the main issue over all with this game is that you get no feed back what so ever of anything and then you just sort of die. I do enjoy the idea of collecting information to figure out what each entity does but I die too quickly to be able to even consider what counter measure works for what entity, I've had instances where i've deployed decoys, honked the horn and shut everything down and still died. I've had times where I've ran away after deploying decoys and still died. I've tired a combination of practically everything. I've even sat and not descended or made a noise and still died. Myself and a group of friends sat down together and attempted to try to figure out what to do to make progress and none of us could figure it out either. I think in general the game as a concept is a fun idea, it's a space version of iron lung and that's a cool idea, but I feel as though the execution of this one makes it incredibly confusing, inconsistent and unclear what the rules are for each entity even after attempting to take notes and studying behavior of the different entities. You can find yourself taking a photo of a creature and wanting to admire said photo but then you die. The Radar also doesn't really give you a good idea of how far a way a creature is, as one second it appears on the edge of a radar the next you're dead, you could try going up or going down, or shutting down completely or turning off the radar but nothing seems to work. The game it self is a great idea but the sudden "Oop you died" fade to black makes the game confusing and frustrating. Some more information being given to the player could really help improve this game a-lot as I really wanted to like it but found myself just getting angry and asking "What am I doing wrong?" I couldn't make any kind of progress and I just kept dying. I had to give up and stop playing because I just don't know what to and I don't want to sit there angry and yelling at the screen wondering what i'm doing wrong.
If Iron Lung was a sci-fi horror detective game, you'd get this You have to be ready to pay attention to the smallest of details, but its worth it
HOW DO YOU BEAT THE GLOWIES HAUUUUUGH. If you liked Voyager-19 or Iron lung you'll love this game. Edit: Their weakness was "go back up" and i got three of them in a row -_-
look i'm totally biased, i am the guy that uploads the comic casey made to another site, i watched all the episodes of her and dummus' gregory horror show, i bought backspace, i watched and voted on Fate of the Solar System. The only things I haven't done is play Jovian Drive and watch Cosmomap Program, which I'm gonna do later (and read and watch a couple of "non-canon" stuff i guess) but this ♥♥♥♥ nails quiet horror, it's awesome. paying attention to all these things makes u genuinely scared to miss anything and everything degrades with time. i've played chito freddy fazbear, it felt less tense. this is awesome. also the monsters being randomized is genius. oh right i also got this for free so i'm obviously even more biased but shhhhhhhhhh. tl:dr: peam, 413/10
Played this game on my YouTube channel and it really grew on me. I didn't understand the gameplay at first, but the best way to sum it up is Iron Lung with randomized entities that can kill you. And FNAF-esque gameplay of being locked into a room and managing systems. You have to always be taking pictures of the outside, recording the audio going on around you, and keeping an eye on your radar. Once you've detected an entity with those things, its up to you to figure out how to combat/avoid it. And what each entity is defeated by randomized every time you hit New Game. So its like solving a puzzle that you can reshuffle every time. I can heartily recommend people give this game a shot. ESPECIALLY fans of Iron Lung and the original FNAF games.
That was fun! I keep dying :D My vessel keeps blowing up over and over again :D I took lots of pictures though :D no idea whats out there but it never comes over for tea just kinda sits out there being silly willy breaking my vessel and stuff. Wish it would come in to say hi. Love playing with the foghorn toot toot that is me!
