The biggest issue is that it is underwhelming. It is an ok action RPG game but it just gets boring after the first 12h. The first section of the game is the best it'll ever get. The rest is just fine. If you are ok with the lack of progression in terms of story and general feel of the game this can be an enjoyable experience. I finished it but felt a bit cheated in the end.

I haven't finished the game, but I'm pretty sure that I've made it a decent way through. I had never played a game like Outer Worlds before, but always enjoyed watching Fallout games. I like the twist that this game has instead of using vats. You have a wider use case for the time slow down to maybe sneak by enemies or get in close with melee weapons, which I haven't tried but could make for a fun second playthrough. I really love companions/ summons/ turrets in games and this game makes them great! I love the playstyle of having companions with unique abilities that can be enhanced. For context I am running snipers with companions and I use the time slow down to mostly clean the room, and if that doesn't work I send in the companions I have until the room is clear. Moving on, the science weapons offering really wacky and drastic weapon effects is a fun touch, another fun playthrough I may try. The only thing that would keep me from doing more playthroughs is how long the game can be, but that's not a bad thing. If you want a shorter experience then you do less side content and it's that easy. I also really like most of the companions you can get, with one or two that are particularly my favorites. Not to mention most of the characters are pretty well made, oh by the way find Sonic's voice actor he's pretty cool too. Anyways, that's all I will write for now, I'll probably edit this down the line but wanted to share some thoughts on this one!
If you want to play Skyrim in space, be my guest. It's got all of the jank but none of what makes an open world fun to explore. Every companion needs to be comedic relief and deeply sentimental at the same time. I don't know, none of it feels earned. It's quaint, it has its moments for sure, but it's nothing I haven't seen done better before. If you want a fun dystopian looter shooter with quirky writing, I'd recommend Borderlands instead. At least you know you're on rails in that game.
