The Orphan A Tale Of An Errant Ghost - Hidden Object Game is one of literally hundreds of mobile tier point and click hidden object puzzle games on Steam. It's made by Deertwig Studio, which is a bit different because most of these are made by Artifex Mundi, who seem to copy+paste out one of these every few minutes onto the app stores as free apps (and then copy them over to Steam where you have to pay to pretend your PC is an iPhone). Anyway, this is a simple story about an orphan/ghost whatever, you rummage around a house searching for clues or something, the story isn't particularly well laid out (even for a HOG). Weak story aside, the real issue is just how clunky this is compared to an Artifex Mundi or similar HOG. The hidden objects are sometimes out of scale. The interface is clunky and awkward, it feels bad to use it. I can see why this was dumped on Steam and didn't seem to be accepted by the app stores. Like I said, there's literally hundreds of HOGs to choose from on Steam, most of which are free on mobile. It's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for this somewhat inferior one. "Mum, can we get Artifex Mundi HOG?" "No, we have The Orphan A Tale Of An Errant Ghost at home."
Je déconseille. Ce jeu est moche, les traductions sont erronées et ne permettent pas de trouver les objets. Histoire simpliste, sans intérêt. Même s'il n'est pas cher, il l'est encore trop. Et il est court, bref ne l'achetez pas.
No map. Confusing. Too dark. Don't recommend.
OK, first review... and it's not a good one. Firstly I didn't expect to complete the game in 40 minutes... am I missing something? I mean, It's okay if you're 12 and looking for a thrill but... I'm not 12 and expected something more than that. What a let down. And considering its just had a bug fix I still found it really slow. Well done to the game developers (I mean I couldn't do it) and it's an ok-ish story line (need more cut scenes dudes) but with the standard of games out there... pfft
If you are interested in this game, there are plenty of mobile games that will give you the same experiences but are free. That being said, for what it was, they game lived up to my expectations. However I did receive it as a gag gift from one of my friends, so I wasn't expecting too much. A couple notes: I saw a lot of people complaining about the piano puzzle, and as a piano player I was expecting it to require those skills, however I think people are just over thinking it. In the puzzle one white key is labeled with a letter, and one black key is labeled with a number. The white keys are letters, for example I believe the farthest left white key is A and then B would be next to it, etc. The black keys are numbers, for example I believe the farther left black key is 1 and then 2 would be the next one etc. (this is not how pianos are labeled in real life, it is done this way to make the piano possible for non piano players) I assume most people's problem at this stage was that they were already dissatisfied and were too annoyed to spend the time figuring it out. It was about a 45 minute play through for me, but I've seen other reviews saying it can take up to an hour. The game is comprised of a couple "find the objects" scenes, which aren't overly complicated, the longest I spent on one must've been about seven minutes. And a few other small puzzles, like the piano puzzle. The biggest turn off of the game was its grammar which was rather poor, so I assume the creator isn't a native English speaker or was too lazy to correct any grammatical errors. The story is mostly left to intuition but from what I've gathered it's about a girl who wakes up in a strange house and in order to leave must figure out what happened to her aunt Sarah, all while being followed by an evil spirit. At the end it is revealed that the spirit and Sarah are the same person, the spirit being an evil manifestation of her. I haven't noticed the hint button working, and there are a few areas where I got confused, but if you see something sparkly and white chances are you need to put an object there. I'll restate, if you are interested in this game, there are plenty of mobile games that will give you the same experiences but are free. If it were free, I'd give it a yes.
An underrated GEM on Steam. One of the worst-reviewed, yet timeless point-and-click adventures of all time. Easily rivals King's Quest V for both ingenuity, gameplay, deep lore, 256-color graphics, and frames-per-second action. Don't trip and lose your necklace! Haha. Spoilers.
Game is nice if not glitchy. Just restart it if you get a glitch. Spoiler: game doesnt have happy ending
VERY short. Clumsy. Cursor too small, difficult to navigate locations.
The game glitched on me a couple of times where I had to restart my progress.
