It's a cute, free version of Mario + Rabbids. Nothing to complain about there.
6/10 It’s a good game and free, but unfortunately it gets boring quickly. For people who like turn-based combat systems, it could be something. The graphics are also pretty cute.
So far very charming art style and game feel. Has a few audio balancing problems, but the rest makes up for it! 8/10

Students or graduates who made this should be proud, its quite well made. I recommend checking it out. Pros: - Interesting turn based grid gameplay - interesting abilities. - Cute animations. - Cute environments. - Just the right length missions for a free game. (4 levels) - Replay value is high. Cons: - The camera loves to whip around a lot, gets very annoying when it doesn't remember its original position you put it in. Jumps sometimes more that 180 degrees, sometimes in front, sometimes the back, its very disorienting. - enemies are sometimes hidden behind trees, (on the third level), for a turn based strategy game its annoying to select them as you cant see them. - Enemies kind of blend a bit too much into the environment, its snow, i know... but readability compared to your units you control isn't that great. - Camera WASD, moves a bit too slow - Music is too loud on by default. set mine below 5 and I don't think the setting properly reflected that. Suggestions: - The drawn characters key art, for the text bubbles seems unfinished or different style to the overall game. Kind of like a concept image repurposed instead of redrawn to fit the theme of the game. - Possibly including a transparency shader to the trees hiding characters, or making a red outline for the enemies visible on top of the trees so the player knows where it is. - loop a different sound track, after X amount of time has passed, can get annoying after a while. Overall its a great little game, highly recommend checking it out. Great portfolio piece for the students.
Great game concept! knowing it is in the early stages few changes that would be great for the game is 1 improving the UI and feel of the controls/ making them customizable for the player, as the initial control scheme is confusing and unintuitive. 2 the fact this is a single player game is a crime as this game would be so good as a 1-4 player multiplayer game. 3 the audio is insanely loud i played with the master volume set as 13 and it was still very loud in my ears. still this is a game that i will be watching to see how it develops due to the potential the game has to be great.
Got softblocked in the tutorial as Alex, couldn't do anything after I crit the boss, as it was prompting me to shoot the guy when he was already gone & I was out of actions. Super cute artstyle, though! I'd love to give it another shot once that bug is fixed <3

Great little tactics game! This was my first cover-based tactics game (I'm more accustomed to Fire Emblem) but it does a great job of easing you in with the tutorial. Big fan of how it shows the danger of overcommitting with Alex and then protecting with Riley. Your standard attacks feel surprisingly weak, it takes a full round of attacks from all your units to take out one basic enemy, so you have to rely pretty heavily on cover and your skills against the larger groups of 3+ enemies. The crit system is pretty cool, it pushes you to push your luck, play more aggressive and get closer to enemies but the proc chance is low enough to where you don't build your turn-by-turn strategy around getting a crit. My favorite part was at the end of level 2, where I overextended and had to deal with 6 enemies at once. Only Kiran's brain blast saved me, but from level 3 onwards I relied almost entirely on Alex's bear rush. You don't fight very many enemies at once, and bear rush both 1. deals as much damage as 3 attacks combined (since it also prevents an enemy from becoming half-dead) and 2. lets you take an additional action afterwards. The boss fight in level 4 was a nice change of pace but I do wish there were another standard level to play with the endgame skills. Having to fight a boss with such a massive hp bar just pushes you towards maxxing out damage via star rain, and the other skills feel almost irrelevant. I would have appreciated being able to see enemy threat ranges but I do understand making games under a deadline means you can't include every quality of life feature. Balancing-wise, I think bear rush is a little too strong, and I'd like to see the basic attack be buffed up a bit. Letting you kill a basic enemy with a cover attack + a non cover attack would go a long way. I'd also really like it if enemies would stay half-dead for at least one more turn before coming back, it would incentivize downing enemies without killing them immediately instead of just downing and killing them in the same turn. Also the art is really cute, especially the 2d character sprites. The whole game really nailed the feeling of playing pretend against imaginary foes as a kid! We need more games with whimsy!
Cute, little, short tactical RPG. It has a nice art style and the combat is good. It would be interesting to see this with a longer campaign. Reminded me of my childhood, playing in the snow... but I got hit with a shovel back then... fun times. It also reminded me of Final Fantasy Advance's prologue level. Oh, that sparks another memory. I used to borrow the game from the same guy who hit me with the shovel... Well, anyway, try this game and have fun!
