About
A retro platformer with optional minor puzzle elements, alternate routes, a few roaming boss fights, and a simple but powerful item-combining system.
Tools and combining
Tools are strewn across the levels, and can be activated to 'combine' them temporarily, or combined more permanently.
For example: with a pole, activate your spring as well to instantly have a pogo stick, then also activate a spike to have a pogo-drill that destroys terrain as you bounce.
Food
Food works in much the same way. For example: combine a leaf with meat for seasoned meats.

Welcome to my review of Mr Makeshifter! In A Nutshell: Pros: -Cute Retro-style Graphics. -High Replay Value. -Randomly Generated Levels. -Your Decisions Influence Your Gameplay. -Simple Crafting System. -Completely Controller Friendly. Cons: -You NEED a controller for this one, even with keyboard support. Seriously, I’m not kidding! -Not Much Storyline (If that’s your thing!). -Better Checkpoint/Save system would be awesome. Full Review: Mr Makeshifter is a controller-dependent platformer that combines Sci-Fi elements with randomly generated levels for a unique experience each time you boot it up. It utilizes a very basic crafting system (or non-crafting, as described in the Steam description) to let you make new supplies for your adventures, like adding springs to a stick for some Pogo action; you can also make food, find and hatch eggs, and fling rocks at trap doors and wall-mounted levers. The graphics are fun if simple, with 2D shadows and surprisingly bright, intricate level designs for such a low-key game. I love having the added bonus of consequences for my actions, and some determination of my ending with those choices, especially paired with random levels – the replay value is really high with Mr Makeshifter. There isn’t much storyline to speak of, just some fun dialog here and there and a minor Sci-Fi rich narrative, but honestly it’s the action that makes this title fun; you’re jump around, leaping onto chains, dodging flying objects, and making items to get past obstacles. In Conclusion: 6/10 I’d like to see a nifty checkpoint system in place, and implanting a co-op mode could be especially chaotic and fun, but the action here, plus the puzzles and the variety in levels really makes this an enjoyable, fast-paced little adventure. Wow, enjoying this game! Tight controls with lots of gameplay depth and replay value. Unique take on crafting and narrative too. Nice work!
https://youtu.be/9w_Zw8Ld7R0 Left in an unfinished state large chunks of this game are simply don't make much sense.
This game certainly is something. At the core it's a platformer with basic platformer. On top of that there's a crafting system that allows you to combine items in various ways. It also has a weird setting. At the very least it's interesting, which is more than you can say of most games. It's definitely not my thing and the game has been abandoned, but i'm sure some people would really love this.
