Repetitive and boring. No hard reset - so if you return after long absence you need to figure things out on the already upgraded character.

Oyunu bıraktıktan sonraki bir gün içinde aynı anda Idling to Rule the Gods oynadım.
People have various expectation of idle games. Me too, and this one does not meet that. This game just runs. Occasionally, you can upgrade something. After a while, the progress gets stuck, you have to use the reincarnation mechanics. Then again, but you get stuck at a later stage. Thats pretty all. No mechanics, that would motivate one to continue.
The Magician’s Research is an idle RPG developed and published by Mad Labyrinth Studios LLC that combines automated progression systems with fantasy role-playing mechanics and management elements. Built around long-term advancement and experimentation, the game places players into a magical world where research, combat efficiency, and constant optimization form the heart of the experience. While many incremental games focus entirely on increasing numbers and passive progression, this title attempts to create something more involved by layering multiple systems together to keep progression meaningful over extended play sessions. The game begins with players joining the Mage’s Guild during a dangerous magical crisis. Experimental creations have escaped control and spread across the surrounding world, forcing guild members to investigate and eliminate the growing threat. Rather than presenting an elaborate story filled with extensive dialogue and cinematic sequences, the game uses its setting as a framework for its progression systems. Advancement becomes the primary source of satisfaction, encouraging players to continually improve their magical capabilities while discovering increasingly efficient ways to approach combat and resource management. At first, gameplay follows a familiar formula found in many idle titles. Players engage enemies, gather rewards, improve statistics, and slowly unlock additional mechanics. However, The Magician’s Research expands far beyond basic clicking systems. Automated movement and combat options allow progression to continue with reduced manual input, making the experience suitable for both highly active players and those who prefer a more relaxed management style. This flexibility becomes one of the title’s strongest qualities because it allows players to interact with systems at their preferred level without forcing a single playstyle. Character development introduces additional depth through a roster of unique magicians that influence progression in meaningful ways. Each magician brings different advantages, encouraging experimentation instead of permanent commitment to one approach. Support systems further expand strategic possibilities by allowing characters to contribute bonuses simultaneously. Over time, players begin constructing combinations designed to maximize efficiency, creating an enjoyable layer of planning beneath the game’s idle foundations. Progression is where The Magician’s Research truly distinguishes itself. Instead of relying on a single upgrade path, the game constantly introduces new systems that expand player options. Skill progression increases combat effectiveness while faction reputation provides lasting improvements. Alchemy systems allow resources to be transformed into temporary enhancements, while rare materials and special upgrade currencies create additional advancement goals. Every layer feeds into another, building a progression loop that consistently rewards attention and optimization. One of the more interesting mechanics comes from its prestige design. Incremental games often ask players to restart entirely in exchange for stronger long-term bonuses, but The Magician’s Research approaches this concept differently. Through its Time Shift system, players retain a larger portion of previous accomplishments when resetting progression. Rather than making prestige feel like a punishment, the game turns it into a strategic tool for continued growth. The result is a system that respects player investment while maintaining the satisfying acceleration expected from idle progression games. The game also offers multiple long-term objectives beyond raw leveling. Campaign challenges, trophy systems, weekly content resets, reputation gains, and collectible rewards create a constant stream of goals. Offline progression extends the game’s convenience further by allowing players to continue earning progress even when away. This feature aligns perfectly with the game’s design philosophy. Idle progression titles succeed when players feel rewarded for returning rather than punished for stepping away, and The Magician’s Research handles that balance effectively. Visually, the presentation remains functional rather than extravagant. Menus, statistics, and progression interfaces prioritize information clarity over flashy visuals. Players searching for high-end graphics or elaborate visual storytelling may find the presentation somewhat basic, but management-focused games often benefit from cleaner interfaces that emphasize readability. The game understands that progression systems are its greatest strength and keeps player attention centered on those mechanics. The greatest achievement of The Magician’s Research lies in how interconnected its systems become over time. Improvements rarely exist in isolation. Upgrading one area strengthens another, creating a satisfying chain reaction where progress continuously builds upon itself. Watching carefully planned strategies produce increasingly larger gains becomes deeply rewarding, especially for players who enjoy optimization-heavy experiences. The complexity may become overwhelming for newcomers unfamiliar with idle RPG design. The number of systems introduced throughout progression can initially feel intimidating, and players searching primarily for story-driven content may discover that mechanical depth takes priority over narrative development. However, for fans of management systems and incremental progression, these layers become one of the game’s biggest strengths rather than a weakness. The Magician’s Research succeeds by understanding exactly what kind of experience it wants to deliver. It combines fantasy progression, idle mechanics, automation systems, and strategic planning into a package that rewards patience and experimentation. While it may not reinvent the incremental genre entirely, it offers enough depth and variety to maintain engagement far longer than many comparable titles. Players who enjoy refining builds, chasing efficiency, and watching carefully managed systems grow stronger over time will likely find plenty to appreciate here. Rating: 6/10
