About
The Lost Condor is a very short first person walking simulator where you can explore Machu Picchu, the ancient city of Peru. Listen to the sounds of birds, wind, walk under a waterfall and explore the ruins. There is no story, objective, or interactive objects. This is a semirealistic, low polygon recreation of Machu Picchu inspired by action-adventure games of the late 90s.

Do you like walking? I mean, just walking? Going around. Looking at everything. Listening to your environment. Just enjoying. Welcome to THE LOST CONDOR. THE LOST CONDOR is little but fine walking Simulator. The Location is the legendary Maya City Machu Picchu. The Incas built the city in the 15th century at an altitude of 2430 meters on a ridge between the peaks of Huayna Picchu and the mountain of the same name,Machu Picchu, in the Andes. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045871182 This is not a realistic size recreation but it is nice done. I enjoyed walking around, listening to the Birds and exploring the Area. The Graphics and Sounds a really nice done. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045871768 The Developer did a very good Job creating this little Pearl. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045871617 It can be done in 5 Minutes, but if you take your Time like me, putting on Headphones and walking everywhere around, it will be longer. I bought it, because i´m fascinated from old lost Citys. There is no Story, no Items to find and collect, no text or speaking at the Locations. It is just walking around, exploring and enjoying. Decide for yourself, if it worth for you, for me it was. Thank you for Reading.
Alright. The Lost Condor - Walking Simulator is done and dusted. Inasmuch as I walked around all the structures and took in the area. I also did what you should always do when playing a walking sim. I jumped off one of the cliffs, lol. There is no death mechanic. You just land in what amounts to an endless valley. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3292908508 So, as a Machu Picchu simulator, this is pretty cool. I've never been there, but I've watched and read a fair amount about it. Walking around the village in this game impressed upon me a few things that I'd wondered about IRL. You get a good sense for what types of buildings were used as homes, as granaries, places craftsman did their work, and so on. You can see how tiered gardens would be a useful system. And you can definitely see how it would find uses as both a defensive settlement as well as a religious one. The labyrinthine nature of the place is already an effective means of creating defenses without taking into account some of the structures that could clearly be used as such. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3292908516 Machu Picchu is located at 11,152 feet. The natural inclination is to wonder how they managed to live at that elevation. In real life, the town I live in is above 10000 feet itself, and my own house is at 10,320 feet. So, for me, it's not such a stretch. It is definitely doable. Especially when you have natural water sources available. Plus, a lot of food naturally grows at such elevations. Quinoa, sorghum, rhubarb, berries, onions, chives, wild roses/rosehips, mushrooms, a wide variety of herbs and wildflowers, etc... It's actually not so crazy at all. In isolation, they could go about their lives relatively untroubled by the world at large. And should a hostile force decide to come a-knockin, they would have to adapt to the altitude, putting them at an even greater disadvantage, whereas the people already living there will have had ample opportunity to do so. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3292908556 Anyway, the experience offered in this game is nice. Not particularly groundbreaking, but if nothing else, it is thought provoking. However, you can and will see everything there is to see in 20ish minutes. That $5.00 retail price is definitely well beyond this game's value IMO, and even the $2.50 sales price I paid for it was significantly more than the dev should be charging. This is ideally a $0.99 title. Did they seem to pay attention to the details and care about the topic? Yes. But that price is a tough sell in my opinion. YMMV of course. It is pretty, and interesting, and makes me wish the game had more in it. I really like the recreation of Machu Picchu but I wish there were points of interest to explore. There is obviously a lot of love poured into this and I would definitely be open to learning about the place via a game like this. Probably not worth the money as it is, but it could be good with just a few more additions. I would give this a thumbs sideways if possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyzFj6CaavM
This is, as the name suggests, purely a walking simulator. No story, no aim, just walk around and enjoy the scenery. There isn't much better scenery (arguably) than this Andean marvel and walking around brought back a lot of memories from my time in the real one, it's pretty accurate as I recall. It's clearly a labour of love and I think the developer should be proud of their efforts. I played this briefly in its development and it has definitely received some polish since. There's room for improvement, sure, but as it is I enjoyed it greatly and look forward to what is next.
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
This isn't a game so much as a map someone made. You walk around the map and... that's it. There's no gameplay, no explanatory text, no cutscenes, no educational voiceover, nothing. There's not even a UI. They didn't even bother to add guard-rails around the area, allowing you to jump off the edge of the map. Changing the options doesn't work until you restart the game. The graphics look like they're from the 1990's. Like many bad Unreal Engine games, it opens up Steam VR when you launch it, even though it's not a VR game. Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this even if it were free. It's kind of ridiculous that they're charging money for this.
As long as you know what you are getting into, it's not bad, plus bonus, I got it on a really good sale, about a buck, which seems to be about what it is worth. The visuals are nice, and the sounds are as well. I guess the biggest surprise to me is how small Machu Picchu is, I feel like I have seen all of in under five minutes. Not sure how realistic this is, but what there is in interesting. I would really have enjoyed pop up dialogue boxes explaining and/or describing what things are though to have been, On the plus side though, you can go well off the beaten track, and I am surprised as how far I have gone without finding the end. Only steep climbs seem to stop my movement. So far the only thing that really seems off to me is the spire like peak across the way. Picture I have seen show it to have been tiered, I assume for farming. There is no sign of that on the in-simulation peak. So a single thumbs up on this one. Don't expect to get more than maybe ten or twenty minutes of exploration, but it is pleasant and relaxing. An easy recommendation when on a good sale.
The graphics are rather dated but do the job. The animation is smooth. The controls are good. The problem is that there just isn't enough here. You've seen everything it has within a few minutes and then that is it. There is nothing else. To be honest, I think this piece of abandonware should probably be free by now.
Just not a good game, if you can call it a game. The game states no interaction, faie enough. Educational game? how? no interaction no voiceover, just walk. The problem is you can walk around in 5-7 minutes, which is what I did. I had no where else to go as I been up and down. I accidentally got too close to the cliff and fell all the way to the ground with noi way to get back, so I just kept walking, eventually hitting an invisible wall.No way to get back except restart, A reset button would have been handy. Alhough the game looks great initially, not much walking space to be had and nothing to do and can't even finish the game, its just walk around. Not worth buying. Avoid and buy another walking sim you can finish.
It's alright, although, I wish there was more to this game, but I still liked it for what it was.
