At the time of Writing this review, I have spent the exact same "Ingame" hours playing Guild Wars 2 for the first time proper. What a great game, already level 23, explored a full area outside the black citadel. Playing that got me nostalgic for this MMO which I had played way back when, when it initially went f2p. All of those 8 Hours you see registered there...spent in the LOTRO game launcher. oh yes, downloading it on steam, was infact not actually truly downloading the game at all. for the vast majority of those hours it has been slowly downloading 45540 files of Patch dat files at 88% so if you have never played and are curious... no I can't reccomend.. The game doesn't want to be played.. it doesn't want you.. it hates you. i watched Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and listened to music with friends, watched streams etc. done many other things with that time. leaving this review at this time.. I have left it to complete installation overnight. i will probably still play and enjoy my time.. I remember it being great, it is still at 88% with over 33000 files downloaded after 8 hours Just play Guild Wars 2 instead is my reccomendation if you have never played LOTRO in your life Edit : I loved it again once i got in.
It's cool.

It's free. It runs on a potato. Why not?
I've tried SO many MMOs, and only this one and ESO have stuck for me. I don't even have any nostalgia attached to LOTRO, although I know I would've loved it if I played it back in the early 2010s. There's just this perfect mix of cosy grinding, lovely soundtrack, and at least one really fun class that makes this such a relaxing joy. The fact its free to play, and you can actually earn currency with various grinding tasks adds such a weird but profound feeling of meaning to even the menial activities. Just one of those games that has 'that magic' for me I just reached Rivendell around level 35, and totally dragged the experience out for max cinema, and man it was so pure. Mountains, forests, and then a little break in the noise and finally the great city sprawls out before me. Love
Lord of the Rings MMO, what more is there to say?
