Although it goes with just the basic stealth gameplay, the game runs great and delivers exactly what it says. If you're a fan of stealth games, you'll quickly recognize which series this title pays homage to. There's nothing wrong with that as long as the game captures what makes them special. However, because this is an indie game with a very restricted budget and production team, you should approach the game with an open mind. The story ties everything together but it’s not very memorable. It involves some secret facility in the middle of a jungle and goes into sci-fi with cloning. Everyone sent there has never returned, so they've turned to you because you appear to be the only one who can figure out what's going on. There are no voices; instead, you read text throughout cutscenes and other events. The gameplay isn't too different from massive stealth games, but it also doesn't provide a lot of options. You can move about, fight, and crouch to reduce the sound of your footsteps. There are no special skills, such as sticking to walls, peering around corners, or leading foes into traps. Moving slowly around enemies is crucial because there is no visible sign of how much noise you produce. Fortunately, there is a minimap that displays a cone representing the enemy's range of view as well as the map layout. Although it does not allow you to see the full area, it is nevertheless useful because you can see enemies inside rooms, preventing surprises. You are urged to search each room for extra objectives and collectible prizes, although this only matters for achievements. Enemies can be eliminated by choking them from behind. They do not wake up, so you do not have to worry about any unexpected alarms. Weapons are accessible, and you can take ammo from enemies, but the game makes gunfights so awkward that you'd be better off going completely stealth. The first issue is the alert, which continues to spawn foes out of nowhere, and the second is the enemies' bullet sponge nature. It feels like they take an entire clip to die. The game saves when you switch floors or rooms, so it's very fair overall. I played it safe, switching after each enemy I choked. The game takes you through several missions on separate maps. Although each map lets you to freely explore it, you cannot return to fulfill secondary objectives or look for treasures once you've completed it. The graphics are quite good for an indie game. The majority of the assets are incredibly detailed and high quality, and there are even light switches in rooms to help you see better. I also like that the game's engine is free of any flaws that can prohibit you from having fun. What I mean is that there are no strange circumstances in which enemies see you through walls or spot you from across the room. Before you begin the game, you can choose between three difficulty levels. There should be some information provided because it is impossible to tell the difference between them. I noticed that adversaries deal more damage on higher difficulty, but they also speed up their patrol patterns and hear much better. I recommend going with normal because the game is frustrating and unbalanced on the two higher settings. Enemies can detect even the smallest sound, preventing you from taking action, and their speed prevents you from knocking them out. You might go with just avoiding every enemy, but that's not very fun. A few other abilities are tied to your progress. There is lock picking, which requires you to mash buttons until all pins are in position, a power box mini-game in which you must push the buttons in the correct order, and automatic hacking, which allows you to read emails and other information on computers. Except for hacking, which requires you to watch dull animations every time you use a computer, all activities are fine and do not take long.
This game is ok for being developed by a single indie developer. However, there are some issues as to why I only played it once with no desire to replay. The main reason is that it's a stealth game with no manual save. This means you will be replaying the same sections over and over again when you get caught by the guards. Another reason is that combat is atrocious in this game. I tried with a keyboard/mouse and controller and both are highly awkward. I was constantly getting killed by the enemies while fumbling around trying to aim properly. Another thing that bothered me is that this game suffers from Unreal Engine shader compilation stutter where the frame rate will occasionally drop for seemingly no reason no matter what you change in the graphic settings. Another aspect of this game that has not been addressed by the developer is that searching enemies and taking money off them serves no purpose at all. There is literally nothing to do with the money you take off the guards. Also, nothing interesting can be found searching computers and lockpicking is just a sequence of simple button mashing that could be improved upon. Overall, this game is worth playing once but not something to be played repeatedly in my opinion.
