Fun little game. It's like a mix of Stardew Valley and Nuclear Throne. The bosses get pretty though really fast, so there is definetly a steep learning curve.

Keep your hands off my carrots! This game is ideal for occasional play sessions. I appreciate the new feature that allows players to cultivate their own vegetables and sell them for upgrades; I haven't encountered this concept in such a way before, but it functions quite well. The diverse range of characters and abilities ensures that each playthrough feels distinct, making it enjoyable to experiment with various strategies. I eagerly anticipate future updates that will introduce even more content to the game. It's an excellent choice for a quick gaming session. There are numerous characters, maps, and game modes available, and despite spending a considerable amount of time playing, I still haven't unlocked everything. The enemies and bosses can be quite challenging at times, but overall, it's a fantastic value for the price! This charming game combines elements of Stardew Valley and Nuclear Throne. The bosses become quite formidable quickly, indicating a definite learning curve. It is a 2D top-down shooter roguelite where a farmer and their companions strive to save humanity by delivering fresh vegetables while battling hordes of monsters. Players can enjoy various maps with different characters and a constantly evolving array of items and upgrades.
A great game for a short session in between. There are many characters, maps and gamemodes to choose from. I have played quite some time and I still haven't unlocked all of them. Enemies and bosses can be quite difficult sometimes. Besides that a great catch for the price!
"The Last Veggies" is one of literally thousands of retro top-down/twin stick shooters infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "top-down shooter" on the Steam store page yields over six thousand results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is an incredbly lame Adobe Flash tier top down shooter with an agricultural theme, terrible gameplay, terrible graphics... in fact the most entertaining part of this whole game is the idea the developer genuinely thought people would pay him money for this garbage. The top-down shooter genre is pretty much obsolete, even console peasants don't bother with them anymore. Just a tiny number of top-down shooters went anywhere on PC despite the little value they offer (Enter the Gungeon, etc). This is nowhere near being as good as those. Even without a price tag, it's easy to see why gamers ignored this in favor of modern, professionally developed 3D games. This is offering nothing new or interesting. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. Now onto pricing and value. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $4 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 8 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? I can't recommend this. I didn't have to pay for this, but I still feel ripped off. It's worth flagging the achievement setup here. There are 50 achievements, which is an absurd number for something of this quality. Achievement spam is a cynical strategy to attract buyers who are chasing completionist scores rather than looking for a good game. People didn't buy this because it's good - they bought it for the cheap achievements.
