"The Land of Crows" is a side-scroller gothic story adventure game, inspired by the literary works of the Masters of pre-romantic, romantic and gothic literature (E.A. Poe, J.W. Goethe, A. Mickiewicz, J. Slowacki) and lovecraftian mythos.

A true hidden gem
A diamond in the rough, which transports the player to a gloomy world of myth, religion and superstition in early modern Europe. Despite the subject matter and tone, there is a warmth and sincerity to the writing that shines through the text and carries the plot along compellingly. The animated cut-out figures were at first reminiscent of Aviary Attorney or Four Last Things, but serve a much darker story here. The loquacious characters have extensive knowledge of the literature, art and history of Poland, and taught me much about the region during my playthrough. I would never have expected to hear Funnelbeaker culture mentioned in a game. There are a few small issues. The text contains many mistakes and odd grammar, typical for a game written in something other than the author’s first language, but players should not be put off. It is never difficult to understand what characters mean to convey. Sometimes the characters are a bit too modern, for example in one scene the germ theory of disease is casually mentioned, despite this being almost entirely unknown at the time the game is set, but for the most part the dialogue and setting are internally consistent, and build up a convincing overall picture. It would have been useful to have some indication that a scene continues, as I missed some things at first by not walking to the edge of each location, or not knowing that a direction could be travelled (I missed the blacksmith and the lake for ages). Finally, “pause” should have been bound to “escape”. These were all minor issues and did not impair my experience. The Land of Crows is recommended for anyone looking for a slow-paced but rewarding experience. Fans of this game are encouraged to track down Rainer Sarnet's film “November”, which takes place in Estonia around the same time Land of Crows is set, and has a similar mood and background. For new players, some tips about the controls:

use "p" to pause, check the key bindings, pronunciations and to exit the game.
use the space bar to reveal objects of interest
use your left bracket key "[" to cycle through these objects of interest. An early demonstration of this is to examine all of the paintings in the first room you enter. Many items can only be activated if the target object in the world is also highlighted.
"look" (e) and "use" (q) are different keys and though they will sometimes have the same effect, it is important to use both on everything. For example "e" will tell you that there are some books in the bookshelf, but "q" will let you read them. This is important.
after opening the inventory (i), you can scroll left and right with the movement keys, and activate items using the "return" key.
My land.
"The Land of Crows", romantik öncesi, romantik ve gotik edebiyatın ustalarının (E.A. Poe, J.W. Goethe, A. Mickiewicz, J. Slowacki) ve lovecraftian'ın edebi eserlerinden ilham alan, yan kaydırmalı gotik hikayeli bir macera oyunudur.
Amazing game, would totally recommend! Dreadful and hauntingly beautiful atmosphere. Would have gladly paid for this one!
Unbelievable that this is a free game! It's clear that a lot of work was put into this. It's not a perfect game; I was able to make progress by accident once or twice upon talking to a character and asking them something I hadn't even thought about. Also the game is about 75% text, so it's advisable to avoid if you're not in a reading mood. There are a few spelling errors, the text is a little difficult to read at times, the timing of the lines is slightly awkward (but they can be skipped), and the dialogue could be more concise so as not to overburden the player with information. However, despite these understandable flaws, this game is uniquely attractive with style and intelligence. The amount of text to read in this game would almost certainly be a fun-breaker in other games, but I found it fascinating - a trove of Eastern European history, lore, and culture that I was largely ignorant of and really helped to enhance the atmosphere. This game really stands out among most others in terms of offering something more academic; I always get excited when I find a game that lets me stretch my brain muscles a bit and leaves me feeling more knowledgeable. The art and animation style is similar to The Cat Lady - another fantastic game - which really immerses you in the moody, disquieting setting. Highly recommended for fellow fans of dark academia.
It's a slow moving game. It's interesting in it's style of graphics and the options you have to change the appearance of the video. I found there was too much talk about the history of the area and the family etc., which may be of interest to some. I only played half way through so I can't say whether the game has a satisfactory ending or not. It was heading in an interesting direction but, as I said, I found it too slow and there was too much re-tracing of steps looking for missed items or dialogue, so I lost interest.
TL;DR Where do I start? I am a huge fan of the romantic and gothic period of art. I adore the works of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, E.T.A. Hoffmann and Franz Kafka. So I was very excited to see this game. Literary games are, unfortunately, far and few betwenn. I feel that this game was the only one to truly represent the beauty of literature as a whole. However, it not only felt like a love-letter to writing, but it also invoked the gothic and romantic madness as well as despair of the respective horrors. I am also interested in history. Yet I was not aware of Polish culture of the time period, but this adventure showed glimpses of the past. The story is nothing to special, however it has sharp writing. The characters are what really brings the world alive. Almost all of them are multi-layered people, who are neither completely good nor evil. Almost all of them, except for the priest, are likeable. There are a lot of different personalities in the area. There are Jews, lesbians, occult professors, spirits, noble houses or disabled ones, yet they are never just defined by this one trait alone. It`s gameplay, however, is only alright. It is a standard adventure game. Some minor glitches here, some clever or frustating, but nothing truly memorable. One plays this game for the world and story. If you are looking for adventure game about puzzles, look else were. The music has a nice ambience to it. The melancholic sounds accompany the rain quite nicely. Visually, the game is amazing. It uses old, black-and-white photos, to create the characters and environments and it is done with flying colours. As a native speaker, it was also a welcome surprise, to see the game using correct German. It was surreal and fun at the same time. In conclusion, one of my all-time favourite works of art. I cannot recommend it enough.
