This game is a poopy mobile port with braindead gameplay. The art is good, though.
I honestly have and and will continue to have a lot of fun with this game. Pros: Great pixel art A sweet sound track Fun gameplay Smooth mechanics Tons of creatures and inventions to use very balanced difficulty for the most part Cons The transition to the higher difficulty is a little weird The higher difficulties (silver and gold) are very big leaps from bronze The story is a little shorter than expected. Overall I would give this game a 9/10. The cons I list are very minute and are out-numbered by the pros. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys pixel art games and side-scroller tower defense.
A fun challange, with great graphics and sound track. THe gameplay is fairly decent as well. http://gamers-haven.org/haven-reviews-the-incredible-baron/
This game is very tedious. Almost no one bought it to find out, so I'm telling you here.
RPG, Strategy, and Towerdefence mashed up together to form this one beautiful pixelated game, graphics like this always give good impressions towards a game, I can't help but feel overwhelming nostalgia upon launching it. Now to get to the game itself, it's a story driven game, though it focuses mostly on gameplay, it has a beautiful story lying in the background. You have a lot of stuff to collect, a ton of upgrades to do, and a ton of fun, but, eventually the game does get a little bit repetetive, to state the negatives, and sometimes the controls feel chunky and unresponsive, but that's pretty much it, for the cheap price tag, it's worth it.
A nice, just genuine bit of fun auto battler/strategy game. Plays a bit like Age of War (web game) and the like, but much more polished. The story is well written and quite funny, and the game progression mechanics are a nice blend of permanent progression and more temporary features (e.g. you have to rebuild your base each level), but with the base rebuild on each level you can configure the load out of your creatures and powers and which order they appear in. Rather short, finished in a few hours but reflects in the cheaper price (n.b. I did get product for free) so seems about right for the deal. Will probably get through and 100% it as it doesn't seem too grindy to come back and do the silver and gold star levels.
I love it. Discovered it from FlatRedBall and bought it to support the devs but man its genuinely a lot of fun. It reminds me a lot of Plants vs Zombies in terms of the vibe and casual accessibility (while still having some depth) but what I really love is that you can replay harder versions of earlier missions for upgrades and to research the enemy. These Silver/Gold variant of the missiosn can be genuinely hard or even legitmately impossible without the upgrades from later missions. It creates this really fun gameplay loop for me where I wanna do the later missions to get upgrades to complete earlier missions harder variants. I love that the game doesn't stop you from attempting a harder variant of an earlier mission even if it really is impossible with your loadout. It adds that sense of discovery like 'omg can I actually do it?' and makes it feel so satisifying when I do it. It also just runs well
Fun game, more playtime than I expected. Some stages are very difficult compared to stages that come afterwards
I'm past the World 1, so here are my first impressions of two first hours of gameplay. First, the story. Which is probably as childish and cartooney as it can get. And it may sound bad, but somehow, for this game, it works wonders. I actually felt like the playing in a pixelated cartoon, as an overconfident prick who ironically is the most likeable and pleasant character I've met in an indie for quite a while. You're the Baron (obviously), you need to beat the bad guy, who is actually the same person, but inverted (He's even called appropriately). As simple as it can get, and probably for the best. The game is simple but it doesn't feel to need to be overcomplicated. The gameplay is likewise - Simple. Don't count on this being a hard game. It's not. It's a kid's game. You have your base, the enemy has his. You both spawn minions which then proceed to maul eachother in the face. The winner is determined by timing in which you spawn your minions and which minions you chose to take into battle. Minions come in five different colours. Green, red, blue, black and white. Each colour has two strenghts and two weaknesses, so the mechanics are mostly rock-paper-scissors. You need to exploit your enemy's weakness and destroy his minions faster than he dostroys yours. Easy to get, moderately hard to master. Of course there many other mechanics, like artifacts, additional buildings and types of minions. All this makes a game that seems to be holding together without nerfing anything. The only bug I've found is one with the level bar, which appears to be showing random values, but the number just next to it is still showing the good one,so I don't mind it. It doesn't hinder my progress really. It's very addictive and every new level has some new mechanic that will surprise everyone thinking it gets repetitive after a while. A fun and easy to play game with lots of value for the price. If the creators keep making kid's games, mine will certainly play them. No, I don't have any, but if I happen to get some, they'll need fun, entertaining games like this one. It's been almost a year since release. Hope the next game they make is even better.
Personally I really enjoyed Incredible Baron, despite a few notable issue involving difficultly and pacing I found this a great little gem of a game with fun and Zany characters. But hey if you'd like alittle more on it here's my Review, enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga1e4y66xnc
