Absolutely OBSESSED with Evil Trout Inc. games!! I got this as a gift because the giver knew how much I loved The Roottrees Are Dead, and omg this gives me the exact same feelings while playing, but with audio instead. Massive fan, cannot recommend enough, and try to go in as blind as possible.

Wonderful improvement over the original game. The voice acting is superb and the narrative s incredibly well built.

Absolutely superb remake of a text-based mystery puzzle game. The visual and audio presentation elevates what's already a compelling story, and the developers of this remake have managed to turn a game that revolved around clicking and entering text into a box into an experience that works perfectly for controllers as well. If you're at all interested in this type of game, it's an easy recommend. If you're wondering which you should play first, I would recommend starting with this one and playing the original afterwards if you feel like it because the knowledge you'd have from playing Type Help would let you bypass many of the interesting additions to the remake. Played through entirely on Steam Deck, no performance issues and as mentioned the interface is well-designed for controller. Nothing permanently missable in terms of achievements or story, and the game saves whenever you make progress so it's very amenable to short sessions or sporadic play. There are note-taking features built into the game so manual note-taking is completely optional, although I chose to take hand-written notes as I normally do for this sort of game.

I absolutely love the mechanics of this game. A very simple straightforward brain twister. Not even halfway through and many hours in and im loving every aspect of this game, mystery and characters!
