About
The Honours Project is an autobiographical walking simulator about a moment where I was struggling to come up with an idea for my University project in 2024. You are tasked with helping, by inspiring me with music. Enjoy a narrative experience by adventuring through dream-like levels, solving an occasional puzzle and listening to the dark and sometimes comical dialogue that acts as a commentary about being a student and game development. Move along at your own pace, enjoy the audio experience in a fully 3D soundscape. Find notes that explore extra lore, and get an extra sense of who I am.
The year was likely the toughest I have ever faced, and I wanted to depict these moments as an audiovisual experience with light puzzle mechanics and gameplay. The game takes around about 25 to 35 minutes to complete. The aim of this game was to help others who are in education to understand that it is okay not to know, and that the ideas will come. I too wanted to express myself in the only way I know how, and figured this would be the best platform to be able to do so.
Voice work done by the talented Josef Boon
While the game is completed, I am still relatively new in the world of game development and I expect bugs and issues, which I will hopefully have a chance to iron out. I am also not the best at optimizing due to Audio Design and narrative being my field of expertise. The game was created over the course of 5 months and was submitted as my fourth year University project that focused on how audio and narrative work together to better player experience.
This game should work with mouse + keyboard, and an Xbox controller.

It's not gonna blow you away (well, unless you're in similar circumstances and the meta-narrative really gets you on a visceral/emotional level, in which case, fair play!) but this is an entertaining, short-but-sweet examination of the creative process and academic pressures for those in university in a creative field/artistic subject. The disparate design elements don't necessarily cohere together, and it feels kinda like a dog's breakfast of gameplay elements, but then that's part of the meta-narrative so it works. The music and graphics are more than adequate, and the achievements are all achievable, and for the low cost of free, this is more than worth your while. Parenthetically, unlike some games that try to examine academic frustration and creative burnout, this isn't completely up its own arse and won't make you roll your eyes (at least IMNSHO). Recommended!

A decent walking simulator and easy to 100%.
Très bon jeu. Les niveaux sont bien pensés, l'ambiance aussi. Rien à dire concernant l'éclairage Seul petit problème, pas de menu pour personnaliser les contrôles ni l'audio
There was a lot of craftsmanship put into this game. If you like short walking games with simple puzzles or games like the Stanley Parable, this will be right up your alley.
♥♥♥♥ IS FIRE!!!!!!!!
A beautiful short experience.
Short but sweet experience with a great soundtrack :D
Thanks for the game. It really touched me.
thank you for creating this <3 as an art student who often struggles with perfectionism and being stuck in the cycle of creation, this was such a powerful way to convey the struggle. i haven't played many games like this but the storytelling and voice acting here were spectacular, and it's so satisfying how everything comes together at the end. i thoroughly enjoyed this, thanks again!
