We get to twist our way through some alternating hallways, consisting of some nice unsettling elements and interior. Every loop we take around the corridors will present a new form of a tiny puzzle or an anomaly. I actually found it very similar to an anomaly game initially, since the loops in combination with the oddities taking place seemed so familiar, although that's not what this game is. Given how subtle the puzzle elements are (to the point that they barely feel like a part of the game), I'd describe it as a Walking Simulator adventure more than anything else. What we get is more of an experience, than a game. Not meant in any bad way, but that's my best way to describe it. The experience is very short, the developer mentions it as well, and my first completion lasted just 22 minutes. When exclusively looking at the visuals and the environment itself, I found everything to be impressive. Visually, it's unsettling and it conveys the horror theme really well. However, there's of course more things to our experience, and a key point that I think the game fails to deliver upon, is the sound design. This is such a crucial point in the deliverance of the overall atmosphere and immersion, and I didn't feel like the game did a good job at that. The ambiance is so quiet that I initially questioned to myself whether my instance had bugged audio. I could barely hear the ambiance, which comes in the form of a very low tone of inner distress. Also, it's in substantial contrast to the other sound cues being played, making it feel a bit unnatural and unconvincing when sound cues are played. It's like we can hear the exact beginning of the sound cue being played, there's not any build-up or anything in place to fully convince us. I liked the key features we are presented with, where we essentially "look into another dimension" with our flashlight, cool concept and although it is not anything we haven't seen before, the execution still feels good and convincing around this specific mechanic. All in all, for me, it felt like a pretty mid-range experience. It feels ambivalent to describe the experience as mid, since so many things are on point here. My main problem being the missing ambiance/audio optimization that steals horrendous amounts of joy from my overall experience with it. On top of that, and as already mentioned, it is a very short experience. For anyone giving The Hallways a try, I recommend you to take your time and just grasp the things around you. Get some thorough looks at the disturbing environment & anomalies, don't rush through it, the experience is already short lived enough in itself. A really fun short horror game i completed with realistic graphics, a scary grudge creature and fun gameplay. I highly enjoyed this very cool and awesome!
I got a chance to try the game before it dropped, and it was an awesome experience! The environment was super well done, and the jump scares were on point. Now that it's officially out, I found even more jump scares that scared the hell out of me (and trust me, I’m not the bravest guy out there, haha!). Huge props to the developer for all the hard work — I really appreciate the opportunity to play early, and best of luck with future games! ❤️
Good game
This was a such a good short game it took me like an hour an a half ( probably would've been faster if i wasn't chicken ♥♥♥♥ ) Don't regret playing , nor buying it. But I do recommend getting on sale, like I did :)
I genuinely enjoyed the game, but I felt it could benefit from a few more layers to its story. The cryptic clues were interesting, but I wanted more narrative elements to tie everything together. A little more insight into Emma’s backstory or the mystery of the hallways would make the experience even more immersive. Overall, The Hallways is a short, yet impactful horror game that excels at creating tension and unease. If you’re a fan of psychological horror and love getting lost in unsettling environments, this is a must-play.
Took me about 40 minutes to get through. Quick and fun. Definitely sets a scary ambiance. The last part seems a little awkwardly set up and confusing, but the fact you can get reset sets a more scary feeling. 7/10
Yetişkin bezi olmadan oyunu oynamayın. Korku kelimesinin anlamını iliklerinize kadar hissedeceksiniz. Keşke bu kadar kısa olmasaydı.
Very good game with awesome graphics, jump scares, looping corridors. Take your flashlight and survive the darkness. I recommend it!
