About

The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is a lore-rich and choice-driven historical fantasy visual novel inspired by Irish mythology and Celtic folklore. Play as a tenant farmer from mid-19th century Ireland, whose path becomes inexplicably entwined in fairy affairs after getting robbed by the roadside and lured into the mythic and war-torn world of Tír na nÓg: A once unified land, now divided into the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. Will you escape and return home with your stolen belongings? Or does fate have something else in mind?
While trapped in this strange and storied land, you meet six members of the Tuatha Dé Danann ("Tribe of the Goddess Danu"), split evenly between the rivalling Seelie and Unseelie Courts. Who will you trust, befriend — romance? In either case, you'd best be careful. Fairies are a capricious sort, and liable to pull you into their own agendas...

SHAE FÉARGLAS: An honourable Seelie soldier questing to find a lost princess. Voiced by Lev Rodriguez Shivers.

KEAGAN MÁISTIRÚIN: The Seelie Court spymaster with a plethora of enemies. Voiced by Will de Renzy-Martin.

AÍFE EALABHÀN: Queen of the Seelie, a rumoured usurper falsely ordained by the gods. Voiced by Méabh de Brún.

MAEVE TROIDUAIR: An Unseelie folk hero endowed with incredible power. Voiced by Blair Greene-Osako.

FLANNÁN MAC LUGH: The newly ascended Unseelie King, and son of the Unseelie’s infamous rebel leader, Lugaid. Voiced by Liv Smith.

ROBIN GOODFELLOW: The Unseelie's shapeshifting trickster of mysterious origins. Voiced by Alexander Hanly.
The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is a Kickstarter-funded project currently in development. Due to the scope of the story, we will be releasing it serially over several years, discounted while in early access. The earlier it's bought, the cheaper it will be overall.
Not all routes are currently available! As of May 1, 2026, you can play Shae and Maeve's routes (both 70k+ words) and a side story starring Shae's sister, Brigid. If you're not sure about paying for early access, feel free to check out our free demo first. It consists of Vol. 1, Book of the Traveller (the pre-route content). We are currently working on Flannán and Aífe's routes!
The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) has a recommended reading order (Vol. 1, then 2, then 3, etc.), which will correspond to the release order of the routes.
Due to its setting, The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) will occasionally feature instances of characters speaking in Gaeilge, i.e. the Irish language. All instances of Gaeilge are linked to an internal translation tool, which is voiced by Nigel McKeon, a Gaeilgeoir.
The main character is yours to shape. At minimum, you must choose a nickname, pronouns, and one of three default appearances. Alternatively, if the default options are not to your taste, you can leave the sprite 'blank' or mod in your own artwork (instructions are included in the game's files). You may also choose to discard the True Name...
All routes, both current and upcoming, will have both romantic and platonic choice options. If you're uninterested in romance, you can make friends instead! No matter the nature of your relationship, you will still be able to reach the good end. Or the bad one.
Our cast consists of two men, two women, and two non-binary characters. All are romancable no matter the MC, but some characters are asexual or on the aromantic spectrum, which may impact aspects of their romances.

Honestly one of the better VN's I've played. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a fantasy genre type of game. Aside from that, a huge personal bonus is definitely the inclusiveness.
Love the game so far, the setting, characters & intrigue make me want to learn more about Ireland's history & folklore. I'm looking forward to when more of the story becomes avalable.
Keagan竟然不是可攻略角色,心碎啊
I checked out the synopsis on a whim, decided to buy, and I wasn't disappointed! I love the nuance from the available incomplete routes and I already know how I want most of the routes to go. It's also a cool feature to be able to hover over the Gaelic words/names and learn a bit of Irish mythology/history/vocabulary. So entertaining and educational! As the page says, it's early access but what's available so far is worth it.
Played this game for multiple stream segments during the Fall in Love Visual Novel festival; I can honestly say that I had so much fun with this title, and the creative minds behind it did a fantastic job! The characters are well designed and are a feast for the eyes, the lore in just the first volume alone was enough to keep me engaged, and the dialogue was ever so whimsical and silly. I would wholeheartedly recommend this if you're looking for a fun visual novel title that will leave you wanting more!
What a fantastic game! so polished, so fun, a super interesting, unfolding story. I can't wait for more routes, but I would encourage people to get the game now, it's an excellent deal for the amount of content you get, and play through the content available! It's so much fun, there's a great community around it, I am just so excited to see this game come to life! Amazing job to the team, I wish I could formulate all of my thoughts but the art is so gorgeous, the characters are rich and interesting and lovely and meaningful and there's so many fun little secrets to find!!
I wanted to choose an avatar for my character and had three different faces to choose from, all of which looked like young men. When I try to upload my own picture, I can’t manage it because it’s way too complicated… I would have liked to know before buying that, visually, you basically can only play as young men. Honestly, if I had known how limited the game already is in such basic things right from the start, I wouldn’t have bought it. I’m very disappointed and frustrated.
Unfortunately I feel like this game is going to be highly slept on in terms of how brilliant it truly is, though I'm knocking on wood in hopes to be proven wrong. Practicality-wise, I did not have much trouble playing it, the mechanics are fairly sound, and the visuals are slightly simplistic in execution yet stunningly beautiful in the way they portray this world of which we are introduced. This game spoke to me on a spiritual level I can only begin to put into words. It is honest about the devastation of colonialism; how its effects have the ability to reach quantum dimensions of other realms our world is attached. The characters are viscerally real in their approach to life and their goals; their passion for existence and their loved ones is palpable. Every portrayal of magic is has some portion of itself rooted in alchemic or intentional logic and allows one to suspend the limits of their imagination easily when playing. I think one of my absolute favorite parts, as someone who has always enjoyed learning languages, was picking up some Gaeilge through this game. At this point in human existence it's been calculated in a 2020 study that every 14 days a language goes extinct, so I feel very strongly the creators are doing more than just making a game here. This game is bold, fun, excellently written, heartfelt, and just a beautiful example of what visionary creative passion can accomplish.
First MAJOR minus for me The Ui is pretty uncomfortable, I literally getting lost in the menu each time I start to re-check updates. I have a paid ver. but can't go further than in the free version, when the full game would be released will I still be unable to play, what letter is game trying to get out of me? Should I continue to other book or what? How I now if i should proceed? With which book I should procced If they are always shuffling because of one inaccurate click? Why is this whole system is so unintuitive and uncomfortable? Otherwise chars are charming, story is atmospheric and engaging. I really hope you will polish UI, too
