About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

**OH POOP! I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THIS WAS AN EARLY RELEASE GAME UNTIL NOW!** *While everything I said was true, I feel like I shouldn't have been so harsh seeing as how the game really just isn't finished yet....* This is yet another game that isn't quite finished yet. After 8 hours of play, this is what I've noticed: -I hate navigating the menus. It's like they were designed by someone who doesn't play any games and only cared about them technically working. -The artistic style of the characters is a bit weird, they have overly large hands for some reason. This is especially odd because it isn't maintained with the enemy units. Figuring out what you're actually supposed to do in the game is not easy for a beginner: -Quests are not explained well. Some quests are given in the Quest menu, side quests might just be random tasks that you're supposed to remember. -Item tracking is non-existant. -Character progression is really annoying. You have to prestige your character and start over it's progression every couple thousand XP(?!). Also, after you've hit the XP limit for the next prestige level, any XP you earn is tossed out. -Not being able to pick up/swap weapons from downed enemies is really dumb. Eventually you can modify your rig to allow you to pick them up, but in the beginning, it's really frustrating to be stuck with the crappy guns. -I've had to keep the wiki open on my other computer while I play. The movement and combat both feel really clanky and old: -Terrain boundaries are really unpredictable: Things that look climbable, might be in one spot, but an extremely similar terrain object in a different spot won't be. Mantling, in general, is frustrating and often takes multiple attempts to find the right angle. -Your character sometimes looks like it isn't touching the floor, especially on round terrain, like pipes in the tunnels, and it'll float over larger uneven/open spaces when trying to climb over obstacles. -I've found multiple walls that I could walk completely into, and further, until I hit an actual boundary. -NPCs walk around like they would in a 2005 game, their steps sliding over the ground, their navigation very linear and jerky, not fluid at all. It's what I imagine a beta version of Gears of War looked like. -NPCs will sometimes get stuck on corners. -I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to being spotted while in the open. Sometimes enemies will walk right by me while I'm standing there in the open, sometimes they'll start noticing me while I'm crouched behind cover. Combat gets really frustrating, especially up close: -Maybe my noob equipment just sucks, but aiming down the sights doesn't help all that much in terms of accuracy. -NPC shots rarely miss you (unless you're behind cover) with few, if any shots going wild. Perhaps I've only noticed this when fighting/running from especially accurate enemies, if that's a thing. -When you get swarmed by cyborgs or whatever, it becomes really hard to fight because your gun pokes through the enemies if you ADS. -Trying to mark an enemy (with [Z]) is ridiculous. You could have your reticle directly over an enemy 30 feet (or whatever) away, and it simply won't register the NPC. Moving the cursor around slightly while spamming the button doesn't help. Occasionally, it will work as intended, but I've found that to be much less often than when it doesn't. -Watching NPCs fight each other is... interesting. They will often stand there obliviously taking shots from enemies for a while before they finally notice and fight back (unless they just die). -During my last session, I ran right past an idle Exo (mech), then stopped to watch it stand there for a good 20-30 seconds while being shot up by 4 drones that had surrounded it. Then, all of a sudden, without any movement from the Exo, all of the drones simultaneously exploded. Good things: -I thankfully haven't encountered much in terms of larger bugs. The game has not crashed, had any stuttering, nor audio/video problems. -The only notable bug was during a run on Scorched Enclave, waves of drones just continually appeared, immediately exploded, and rained down from the sky. I wasn't in the map for long, as I was just grabbing some water for a quest, but there were dozens littering the ground by the time I left. Who knows though, with the way this game explains things to you, maybe that was a "normal" randomized event? -I like the overall imagery of the maps. The terrain and ruins often remind me of Beksinski. The ongoing war is cool to watch (aside from the issues I described above). Smaller units will run around fighting each other. Tanks and large mechs will battle in the open spaces. Aerial vehicles will drop in reinforcements or join in the battle. It's fun to watch. -There's no extraction timer to add unnecessary stress to your excursions. -Dying isn't too bad, even after you start upgrading your equipment, because afterwards you can just run in naked to collect your gear, which doesn't take up any storage space, and extract it back out to use again. That makes it less scary as a noob to start upgrading your gear and using better weapons. -I'm still playing it for now, and hoping for some big improvements!

So like the games atmosphere is fantastic, but there's a lot of QOL issues in my opinion, a major one is things like controls of shift + S flips you and personally i hate that, id love an option to disable that in settings, Its screwed me so many times. Another thing is there's so many bugs, where for example i switch my ammo type on a AK and all of a sudden the game has deemed i'm not allowed to shoot with any gun anymore. Performance needs to be improved, as like yeah i get above 60 but opening menus drops my frames to snail pace of like 30-40 FPS and the game just feels sluggish. Performance drops also happen after playing for too long. Id also like a way to see if an item i need for a quest is highlight or just a custom list to show me what items i need right now. as its hard at least for me to memorize all the different parts. Overall its a good game, but it has issues that i wish the devs would prioritize to make playing it much better.
While this new game is still working out some kinks here and there, it's showing a lot of promise as a stealthy solo or team extraction shooter. The world is unapologetically bleak, but the level design, gunplay and audio are excellent so far.
There's a major issue with aiming at enemies after they've noticed you (Game snaps onto the air behind me for some reason); however, the game is pretty good in all other aspects.
