This is a pure cargo cult video game in the most literal sense. It is a crude facsimile of a real video game that from long distance appears to be the real thing, but the moment you look at it, you find out that it's at best painted cardboard. The dummy game at first appears to have mechanics. This is a lie. The numbers mean absolutely nothing, the effect of everything is random, not even the purely arbitrary experience numbers add up correctly. This phony game also tries to have quests with choice and consequence. As the game description puts it "There are some antogonism rewards you will get by choosing a particular decision that favour one spiritual path. Choose to fight slavers, and a Paladin companion might join you, choose to help the slavers and you may get gold and a dark paladin in your party. Those are your choices, and it is up to you to shape the destiny of you character as well as Ethernalia course of events." This is in fact true, except this particular choice comes at a point in the game where the creator gave up trying to make something at least passably similar to a game and the player no longer has any real input. The farce of choice and consequence is brought to a finish when the game stops referring to your character by the name you picked and just addresses you as Balder, the name of the protagonist of the self-published novel this game was based on. The ordinary post-Baldur's Gate roleplaying games usually give the protagonist some sort of title that can be used in voice acted sequences in place of a name. This game does the same in spite of not having any real voice acting. However, as it is a cargo cult game, it just crudely replicates the outward appearance without any understanding of the underlying purpose. By the end of the game, the pretense drops off and things just stop working. Whole areas are devoid of anything interactable and blatant placeholders are everywhere. A casual look at the game might make one think it's a blatant scam. I, however, think that the creator is just too dumb to know what a video game is and is trying to make one based on seeing screenshots.
its a great rpg dont let the graphics fool you its a bit nostalgic to baldurs gate and other high end top down rpgs of the 90s its got great graphics even for it being new but they a great job mixing rpg text adventure and strategy all in one also i sure do hope they fix some of the issues and hope they also add blood cause i cant tell if im hitting or missing but its a great game that i recommend and i hope someone will pass this review along and get more people to try it its worth a shot and there is a lot of work set out for it and i will say its a masterpiece
OK this has the potential to be a very fun game; but, there are so many unfinished and buggy things: InnKeepers that take you money but you don't heal from the rest, quests you can't finish because the NPC won't give you the reaction you need to return the quest and collect the reward, traveling to certain areas but not being able to travel out of them. Please finish this game. Add some random re-occurring monsters too so you can gain experience. Not to mention that no matter how much experienced I got I never gained a level. Let alone merchants that won't sell or buy from you. I cannot recommend this game until it's finished.
Being it's a new game, it flows pretty well. The load times for traveling isn't bad. The voice acting is a give or take but all in all hope to see this game flourish
[DISCLAMER: This is a LEGIT and NON IRONIC REVIEW] Ok let's start with saying that this looks like an acceptable gdr baldur's gate like game. Story starts weak but it's not boring filled with stupid quests. Combat it's ok i guess. Side quests are surprisingly not linear and have some nice little twists. Overall the graphics is not acceptable in 2020 but personally i don't have problem with it. i think that this game, in order to become very good should try to fix several annoying bugs, i will lists some: ☐Portrait feature (feature to upload a pic from pc to your character portrait) completely broken and not working ☐Kira will never, and i say, never shoot a single arrow or attack at all in any fight of the game, i don't know why, but it's very sad since i wanted to romance her and i kept her in the party even tho she couldn't be of any use. ☐difficulty can be changed in the game manu but every time i change it just reset to normal every time! ☐Kira will sometimes fall from the map or get bugged and so on ☐since you can't use a door without your party near you every time you will have to wait for your remaining party members to walk to you, very often they will get bugged or be randomly teleported in the map and often you would manually control them in order to get to you just so you can USE a damn door, the fact that the maps are overall not gigantic but quite big doesn't help this frustrating situation, my advice would be to let players use doors even when the party memebers are not nearby (please fix this guys) ☐ I also wanted to report that quest logs gets bugged sometimes ☐saddest thing is that i was unable to end the game! please help fix this, the old port map looks bugged and collided with the tample map, also i should gather for help talking to the temples but when i go there, nothing happens in every tample exepct for some simpler dialogue, if this is a bug i'd love if you would fix this, or at least can some of you help me? maybe i'm doing something wrong and it's impossibile to find guides online. ☐if you fast travel to the forest where your people were camping you get in a menu with a ''test'' text, so i think it's a bug and should be fixed. Overall i would raccomend this game and i really hope this is not an unfinished game, just some kind of softlock bug. Hope you guys will be able to fix it! Have a nice day developers! ***UPDATE*** I managed to go further and make progess, all i did was to reload a checkpoint and now the guard at one door will speak to me, now i'm in the final battle. And let me tell you that this is by far the worst decision i've ever seen. Make the last battle an RTS game lol wtf. Not only the mechanics are indeed underwhelmng but the battle seems impossible to win, even if the herald survives for ''10 minutes'' as said in the objectives the timer just became negative, and the final boss drains hp from you and you can't go anywhere near him. Tht's said, has anyone ever finished the game? I'd really like to see the ending. Also now that i think about it, there are a lots of character skills you can level up, but looks pointeless since i've never found a single weapon in the entire game, beside the torch in the first levele after the big escape from the city you were born, also just 1 potion was found in the entire game, pretty weird lol. But as i soid above i would raccomend the game just to have some fun or to try something new since 1.50€ is a very good compromise. And as always, have a nice day devs 👍
