One thing is absolutely certain: "The Edge Of The World Z" [i]WILL[/i] shock you. Just not in a good way. This "game" is quite likely the worst shooter I've ever encountered and I've played a few in my time. It's hard to even find the words to describe the "experience" of TEOTWZ but I'll try. It's clearly because it's not their first language. So the author made a game to sell on Steam to "support his poor family". So in total there are assets worth more than €600 in this game which, unless I completely misunderstand the about screen, should have been used to support his "poor family". Unless the assets were pirated which is certainly possible. As completely expected tossing all these rather complex assets in a blender doesn't really result in making a good game unless you also know how to use them to their full effect. The "developer" here clearly didn't so the result is an absolute travesty. There are two game modes - "Story", which doesn't really tell a story unless you count the one sentence of introductory text before a level as storytelling, and "Arena of Death" which is basically the same thing without the introductory blurb. Regardless of mode you'll get dropped into a badly lit map with all post processing effects turned to 11. Your dude moves like he really needs to pee ... and here come the enemies! You'll get shot at from everywhere at once and your ammunition is extremely limited. There's no noticeable weapon impact but shooting trees makes them bleed green. Huh. The aiming recticule is [i]huge[/i] but trying to hit anyone from afar is an exercise in futility. You can change weapons but only via the inventory which doesn't pause the game. Once you've ran out of ammo and can't find more - enemies drop some occasionally - you're basically toast which means you'll die. In Story mode you actually respawn, in "Arena of Death" mode for whatever reason you don't. Instead you'll just lie there forever with all the enemies wailing on you. Admittedly I didn't get very far in the "story" because I just died all the time but from what I could see the level design wasn't exactly stunning. There are plenty of maps though which is at least something. But wait, there's also multi player! Obviously there's nobody to play with and I'm not even sure it works because I couldn't move even when hosting my own game. It seems there's a "zombie mode" in the works but will only be released after two months. I'm not holding my breath in anticipation here. I'll avoid the low-hanging fruit the UI design offers and only say that it's very bad. If all this wasn't bad enough the "developer" is asking the ridiculous price of $5 for their "masterpiece".
