About

Welcome to the first taste of the world of The Dead Await! We're so excited about our game that we couldn't wait to share it with you. This special Prologue offering will give you an early glimpse at the world and mechanics of the game. Get ready for an incredible experience with our deck-building open world survival RPG!

The Dead Await is a deck-building open world survival RPG set in a zombie apocalypse. The world as we know it ended, torn apart by hordes of ravenous monsters. Humanity still clings on in the sea of blackened ruins, cold ashes, and man-eating creatures.
You're the leader of a caravan of survivalists whose goal is to figure out the truth behind the zombie apocalypse and, if possible, build the foundations for a new civilization! But be careful: Zombies might want to feast on your brains, but humans may very well prove the greatest obstacles during your long drive...

Explore a vast world torn apart by a zombie apocalypse, from derelict cities full of loot and zombies to new settlements founded by survivors with opportunity and backstabbing abound.
Gather food, water, fuel, and gear to survive the drive. Manage your resources to ensure everyone gets to the destination safely.
Manage your team's sanity! Manage the impact of trauma, long-term effects of injuries, and, of course, resource scarcity. Zombies might turn out to be the least of your problems...

Build the survivor you want using a robust attribute, skill, and perk system. Experiment with combinations and character builds, from a suave lockpicker to a mindless berserker and everything in-between.
Paired with the character system is sophisticated card-based combat. Build up your deck during your travels, taking a team of rag-tag survivors to veterans with incredibly rare cards at their disposal!
Gear matters: Give your survivors an edge with weapon and equipment mods - plus a good meal - and watch them conquer the wasteland!

The caravan is at the heart of your journey to discover the truth. Upgrade it with workbenches, storage, and other features to turn it into a true mobile base.
Swap out vehicle components to modify the caravan's performance. Engine, suspension, tires, all affect how you traverse the world - and your chances of surviving!
Craft everything you need to survive, including the classic nail-mounted baseball bat. They don't make them like they used to, after all!
With what you find in the wild, cook meals to give yourself permanent bonuses or a quick fix before a fight!

I really loved the mix of genres and mechanics this game gives us. We have rpg with the character evolution, cards to fight and a board to move around the world, loot, talk, etc. The story looks interesting to me too, and i will buy the game as soon as possible. Highly recommended. Greetings.

Hits a lot of the right things. Not too difficult either. Has massive potential to be brilliant too... FIngers crossed and send annoying emails to the Devs to hurry the Eff up! :p
A nice little glimpse into what The Dead Await game has to offer! I love the whole aesthetic and art direction that was taken! Of course I made that promise to Deh Billy! I see that the full game has recently been released too, I will absolutely be playing it soon! If you like this demo, then I strongly recommend checking out the full game too!
Looking forward to the Full game. Didnt want to spoil too much after the achievement. +1 Achievement Hunters +1 Deck Builders
buen prologo
"The Dead Await: Prologue" is isn't a game at all, it's just an ad for The Dead Await. Talk about store pollution... Misleading marketing like this is an abuse of the Steam storefront and the "free" category. The product this is advertising, The Dead Await is something that looks like it was made as a browser/mobile game but got published on Steam by shovelware pushers at indieio (they got hundreds of these shovelware games), a CCG zombie survival... thing... but that's not really relevant, because "The Dead Await: Prologue" isn't The Dead Await, it's just an advert for it! Incorrectly published adverts are harmful.. they take up visibility that should instead be afforded to ethical developers who do the right thing. And it makes it harder for us to find those ethically made games. There's a correct process to publish game demos and advertisements like this on Steam. You can see it in Valve's Steamworks Documentation for Demos but either the "developer" didn't know about that (something they absolutely should before they even touch Steam Direct), or they deliberately and willfully bypassed this process to mislead gamers, for profit. Either is not okay. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping $13 USD on buying The Dead Await, and I don't recommend you do that either. This was made with the godawful "GameMaker Studio" construction kit/toolset, which is popular amongst amateur developers because it handholds you through making really crap 2D games that you can publish for $100 on Steam Direct. This lets you pat yourself on the back for pretending to be a real game developer, which explains why GameMaker Studio is responsible for so much ignored garbage on Steam. GameMaker Studio has never really been used to make a truly successful game, but that doesn't stop people from trying and failing. It's a particularly bad game engine that can only be used for making low quality 2D products. Like this. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, as the old saying goes. Another reason this particular game wasn't successful. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an innocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 11 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
REVIEWING EVERY GAME IVE PERFECTED: Literally one achievement that took 5 minutes, nothing to say about this game but will rate it positively for giving me an easy perfect game
