Very cool and challenging card-based strategy game! Definitely worth checking out!
I enjoyed learning the game mechanics. Not sure how to classify it, but there is a game demo to try before you buy. Played on an Ubuntu desktop with keyboard and mouse controllers.
This game is an absolute BEAST. This is drowning in Eldritch flavored Razor lined Rubik's Cubes. And in one of those delicious cubes hides the one and only key to survival. This game holds back pulsing walls of sand just beyond the darkness long enough for you to catch a breath, and then the waves keep coming. When you are playing this game, you are literally drowning in Eldritch corpses, and its riveting. BUY IT ASAP AND SHARE IT - It won't be this Brutal forever! So if you are a fan of Tower Defense games, Puzzle games, Time Management Games, System Builders. Please buy and play now as is, you will not find anything this challenging and rewarding and it won't always be quite like this. The discovery factor is WILD - At least 3+ times I had my plans for success just smashed and rebuilt, and you rethink WHAT needs to be happening and WHEN, and you try and succeed a bit more than the last swing. I would compare the experience to playing against an especially overwhelming AI like the old bootleg "Race Against the Galaxy" Digital version had. If you won 2 out of 10 games it was an achievement. Most notably, I find no wiki or deep strategy dives, and possibly no video of anyone actually beating this game in this form. Someone's going to take that to the bank sooner or later.

Bana Loop Heroyu anımsattı. Başta oyunu anlamakta zorlanabilirsiniz ama eğer biraz sabrederseniz çok eğlenceli olduğunu göreceksiniz.
loved it, neat smaller in scope yet not in complexity strategy game. The ideas on this are fresh as it can be !
Usually I don't recommend a game that's still got a game breaking bug in it, but I think the game is worth the 3 bucks even though it's crashing and I can't finish the game. I feel like I beat it anyway. The final countdown or w/e was almost done. I just lament not knowing what the ending is because there's really nothing else to aspire to with no achievements or anything. But more to information for the game... It's got the cryptic nonsense of some other games, but you can figure it out with a little tenacity. I also think this game will be a bit hard to start with for most, but I thought it was fairly easy personally. I've seen some complaints about it being hard but I just don't agree at all. Just keep in mind the game is turn based so you have as much time as you need to plan ahead. I do wish the game was a little less cryptic for things like how long it will take on individual structures to finish work, how much HP things have, and a little indicator somewhere to let me know that grabbing a card would cost me a turn. The building HP thing would be an easy fix using the old command and conquer standby of showing how beat up the building was. Also I definitely wish there was more to it, but it was 3 bucks and I was very entertained during my time playing which is unusual for these kinds of indie games. I'd rather play this over kingdom nothing lasts any day. It gives you way more control and is just more enjoyable overall IMO. I mean it's got a demo so play that first and it should let you know what you're in for mostly. Though you might get hit with a bug that makes it impossible to win the game. Maybe I shouldn't recommend this. Well, soft recommend. Get it if you really like the way the demo plays.
Abandoned by the developer. Don't bother anymore. He won't even release a bug fix patch for the current bugs that effectively makes one of his building useless even though he's aware of it (watch tower bug). Good game idea, sadly abandoned.
I Like Call of Krul’ar. I recorded some of my progress. Please take a look if you like a more Audio / Visual Experience. https://youtu.be/NL5pu32N7ug Call of Krul’ar is an Indie, Lovecraftian Roguelike all about offering a Pixel packing taste of a Kingdom trying to survive the crazy pinkish purple tide! At heart, Call of Krul’ar is a 2D, Turn-Based, Side Scrolling, Strategy Tower Defense or wave defense game, with cards. Wow.
Don’t Feel Rushed
There is a lot going on with Call of Krul’ar, but don’t feel overwhelmed or rushed, as time only moves forward when you do in Call of Krul’ar, with each action you take advancing the game world. So, it is a fluid form of turn based action; fun! Remember to take all the time you need as the game starts to pickup, and the purple pink tide comes for you, as your hand size is not limitless, and your buildings, soldiers, and workers can really help you hold back the neon fury if you use them well.
Gameplay:
You pull resources in the form of cards out of locations, which you use to build up other structures and resources, combining them in your hand, always pushing right to avoid the onslaught of neon purple pink doom! The creepy, Cthulhuian monsters advance from screen left, and you must fight them off as you expand right, delaying them for long enough to build up more lands and structures you need for your kingdom to survive. Keep your Castle safe, as when it falls, your ruler and kingdom falls with it. So, make sure to make backup castles for your ruler to flee to, stage right.
Suggestions & Critiques:
Though I do really like Call of Krul’ar, I did come across some places where I feel it would be even better! Please let me know if you think I’m out of line on any of these. Ideas: Maybe a wizard or mage tower to strengthen spells, as they currently hit like nothing at higher wave lvls. Could even have different mirrors or focusing crystals atop the towers, specializing them towards certain spells. Maybe a pyre to burn monster corpses, at the cost of wood and localized corruption; tainting the tile and preventing it from being used for a while, and buffing monsters in the local area. Maybe an ability to sprinkle catalysts on your troops to strengthen them, or give them a boost defending an area Just some things that came to me while playing. Maybe these and other presented ideas could serve in presenting Meta Progression options in the future?
Tech Issues
I also have to mention that I did have a single crash in my approx 4 hours in game, it happened in the above recording, when it crashed after I had used “Esc” to attempt to exit a menu; odd. I just tried to duplicate it, and “Esc” worked fine; even odder. I’m sure the dev will address it quickly. Update: The dev addressed it quickly, fixing the odd crashing bug; cool! Not a reason at all to dodge the game; as it did just launch 06/08/22; about 1 month ago, and the dev does update often; still I have to mention it. Also, I am unable to delete old saves, not a big issue, as the save is wiped after you lose a run, but it would be a nice feature to be able to cut out early if you know a run is doomed. Update: Per the dev, you have to click and hold over the delete save button to clear a save; it’s a feature to prevent accidental save deletion. So, feature not bug! I just tried it, and it works! Anyway, if an indie, Roguelike Side Scroller with awesome retro Pixel Graphics and sound appeals to you, give Call of Krul’ar a glance with me, and see this indie monster survival in turn-based action! Watch?
