It's a game alright. Very average RPG Maker game in terms of music, story, characters, enemies, map design, and game interface. In short, it exists.
Great music, can be a decent cure for those who suffer from boredom

RPG lovers will enjoy this game for many hours. I has the best replay value. It is not a short game, it is pretty massive. I like the humorous characters, which are many to choose from. The game is at the top of my favorite RPG list.

Интересный сюжет, хорошие диалоги. Из минусов нету ориентиров,
у животных нету скилов
В целом игра хорошая, пройти разок, два можно
The Book of Legends is the kind of RPG that feels almost defiantly rooted in an earlier era, not just in its presentation but in its philosophy. Developed and published by Aldorlea Games, it embraces the structure and pacing of classic 16-bit adventures while expanding them into something much larger in scope. It doesn’t attempt to modernize or streamline the experience; instead, it leans into length, density, and player-driven exploration, creating a game that feels less like a guided journey and more like a sprawling expedition filled with detours, discoveries, and occasional rough edges. The narrative begins with a relatively simple setup—a mission gone wrong, a lost artifact, and a looming threat tied to an ancient force—but it quickly branches outward into a multi-perspective story that shifts between characters and locations. Rather than focusing tightly on a single protagonist, the game builds its identity around a wide ensemble cast, each with their own motivations and roles in the unfolding events. This approach gives the story a sense of scale, making the world feel active and interconnected, though it can also dilute the emotional focus at times. The writing itself carries a light, often humorous tone, balancing traditional fantasy stakes with moments of personality and charm that keep the dialogue from feeling overly serious or predictable. What truly defines The Book of Legends is its sheer amount of content. The game offers a vast world filled with towns, dungeons, optional areas, and hidden paths, along with a large roster of playable characters that can be recruited throughout the adventure. Exploration is not just encouraged—it is essential to fully experiencing what the game has to offer. Many of its most interesting moments are tucked away off the main path, rewarding players who take the time to search every corner and experiment with different party configurations. This design creates a strong sense of discovery, where progress feels earned rather than handed to the player. Combat follows a traditional turn-based system that prioritizes familiarity over innovation. Battles are straightforward, relying on standard attacks, spells, and party management, but the variety of characters adds a layer of flexibility. With so many potential party members, players can experiment with different combinations and strategies, tailoring their approach to suit their preferences. While this variety helps keep encounters engaging, the underlying mechanics remain relatively simple, and over the course of a long playthrough, combat can become repetitive. Grinding is occasionally required, particularly in more challenging sections, which may test the patience of players who prefer a faster pace. One of the game’s strengths lies in how it handles progression. Instead of pushing players along a strict path, it allows for a more open-ended approach, with multiple routes, optional objectives, and branching decisions that can influence the outcome. This freedom adds replay value and encourages experimentation, as different choices can lead to different experiences. At the same time, the lack of clear direction can sometimes make the game feel overwhelming, especially given its size. Players who prefer a more structured experience may find themselves unsure of where to go or what to prioritize. Visually, the game reflects its RPG Maker origins, relying heavily on familiar assets and a functional presentation. While this ensures clarity and consistency, it also means that the game lacks a distinct visual identity. The environments, characters, and interface feel serviceable rather than memorable, which can create a disconnect between the scale of the adventure and the simplicity of its presentation. Despite this, the art style still manages to support the gameplay effectively, ensuring that exploration and navigation remain intuitive. The audio design provides a stronger sense of atmosphere, with a soundtrack that complements the game’s tone and helps reinforce key moments. While not every track stands out, there are enough memorable pieces to enhance the overall experience, adding emotional weight to important scenes and maintaining engagement during longer stretches of gameplay. Occasional technical quirks can disrupt this immersion, but they are generally minor and do not significantly detract from the experience. The game’s length is both one of its greatest strengths and its most demanding aspect. With a playtime that can easily exceed dozens of hours, it offers a level of content that rivals much larger productions. However, this length also amplifies its weaknesses, particularly in terms of pacing and repetition. Sections of the game can feel drawn out, and the combination of simple combat mechanics and occasional grinding can make the experience feel uneven over time. It is a game that rewards persistence, but it also requires it. Ultimately, The Book of Legends succeeds by committing fully to its vision of a large-scale, content-rich RPG. It may not offer the polish or innovation of more modern titles, but it compensates with depth, variety, and a genuine sense of adventure. It is a game that values exploration and player agency, allowing you to shape your journey rather than simply follow it. For players who appreciate classic RPG design and are willing to invest the time to explore its world, it offers a rewarding and expansive experience that stands out within its niche. For those seeking a more streamlined or visually distinctive game, it may feel dated and occasionally overwhelming. It is a game that asks for patience, but for those who meet it on its terms, it delivers a journey that feels both substantial and memorable. Rating: 7/10

unfortunately, it suffers the same problem like most of aldorlea/warfare rpg maker games - very unbalanced battles, and often childishly written dialogues. for this pricetag, you could play several more professional games like final fantasy or disgaea. this game, tries to be a little bit of both - and fails on both accounts miserably.
