Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Aug 20 → 4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Customizable player houses to rest your weary bones.
Social multiplayer - meet other players in towns, taverns etc.

Tired of ‘epic tales’ of ‘world ending proportions’, Cursebreaker offers stories of human pettiness, revenge and greed - all the good stuff. In this game you're not yet another 'chosen one' destined to save all life from impending doom and gloom. Instead, you're Lord Rothar Aercrest - the feudal ruler to the remote woodlands of Imberthale. Or at least you used to be...

One fateful day your path crosses that of a dark wizard, Gabrius, who appears to be both tremendously powerful and frightfully malicious. Consequently you soon find yourself caught within a mortal feud between two powerful wielders of magic, all the while bound by a curse you desperately need to break free from.
If Lord Rothar is to know peace again, Gabrius must surely die. That might not prove to be such a simple task. After all, what is death besides a mere nuisance to the master of the Black Grimoire?

Character progression in Cursebreaker is tied to the various skills you can advance. All in-game interactions tend to give experience in your various skills, and gaining higher skill levels will unlock appropriate interactions, abilities and crafting options. Fighting enemies in close quarters, for example, will increase your Attack and Defence skills. As they gain levels, you unlock new passive and activated abilities, can wield more sophisticated weapons and armor, and gain access to new traits from the appropriate trainers.
The spellbook offers a large variety of both combat and non-combat utility. Finding and learning new spells may prove a challenge in itself, and casting more demanding spells will require preparation, such as gathering specific ingredients. Feel free to create your own playstyle by using any combination of ranged and melee weapons and spells!
The crafting and harvesting skills provide a variety of bonuses too. Gaining experience in woodsmanship through felling trees not only provides you with crafting materials for bows and such, but may allow you to pass through obstacles in the world and otherwise speed up your exploration. Skill in Alchemy does not only unlock potions, but also bombs and poisons!
Available skills in the game include Attack, Defence, Archery, Sorcery, Smithing, Crafting, Tailoring, Alchemy, Mining, Woodsmanship, Fishing and Cooking.
The game automatically saves your progress. In the event you fall in combat, you will be revived at your nearest graveyard, having potentially lost some of your valuables along the way. No worry, these can be recovered either by visiting the place of your death, or by paying a scavenger. Remember to carry restorative foods and protective potions to guard against dangerous enemies!

Although Cursebreaker is a singleplayer game, it provides an option for a social multiplayer; in other words, you will be able to see other adventurers online, but the interactions are limited to chatting and inspecting equipment only. It will not be possible to trade with them or otherwise engage in gameplay-related activities with them. You may adjust the online mode to apply to big cities only, to be always on, or to opt out of it entirely and play fully offline in case you don't care for it.
Two authentic players chatting.

First time I've really gotten into a game like this, it's good. It has a feeling of player guided progression which I enjoy. Though finding the first wood crafting bench outside of the tutorial was a pain. (Grainwater has one)
Actually a nice intro, very solo Runescape like, Mini map clicking only goes so far tho, more skills could be cool, the systems are very much a nostalgia, hope they continue development, the gave is very well priced, I think it is worth more than it is priced currently.

Imagine RTX 5090 with Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 4k resolution with High (not Max) graphical settings selected. This game fails to reach 120 FPS in starting/tutorial area. I really like game's concept, but optimization is just poor. Refunded.
Memory leak causes game to crash after a few minutes. Currently unplayable. May try again if this gets patched, but until then, pass on this one.
The Black Grimoire: Cursebreaker – A Miserable Failure That Pretends to Be RuneScape I've been playing RuneScape since shortly after the Grand Exchange update. I know exactly what a rewarding skilling, combat, and questing loop feels like. This game is not that. Not even close. I expected something playable. What I got was a janky, half-baked single-player Unity mess that has the audacity to market itself as a RuneScape-like experience. Developers, stop it. It's not a clone - it's a disrespectful cash-grab that borrows the aesthetics and a few mechanics while completely butchering the fundamentals. Pathfinding is straight-up abysmal. The so-called "open world" is nothing but linear roads and narrow corridors pretending to be exploration. You'll get stuck on geometry, clip through objects, or waste minutes watching your character path around like a drunk idiot to reach a node right in front of you. Fast travel is tacked-on garbage, and don't get me started on the loading screens when using Homecoming - something RuneScape deliberately avoids. Questing and storytelling are lazy trash. The journaling system is horrible: vague, unhelpful, and impossible to keep track of. Dialogue is phoned-in, pacing is awkward, and the "joke items" are cringe more often than funny. #1 pet peeve? Can't skip cutscenes that appear seemingly randomly. Skilling, combat, and progression feel completely off. Combat is clunky as hell with a heavy WoW-style emphasis that clashes with the old-school fantasy vibe. Balance is questionable at best (especially later), the grind has zero satisfying rhythm compared to actual RuneScape, inventory management is a constant nightmare, the UI is dated and cumbersome, and death penalties are punishing in the most frustrating ways possible. In TBG I feel like I’m dragging around a brain-dead puppet with no agency or progression - whereas RuneScape lets you actually grow and feel powerful as your character develops with you. Even worse, the content creators for this game are some of the laziest, most disrespectful players I've ever seen. Every single one of them shills glowing reviews while completely ignoring the massive shortcomings. Guides for skilling, money-making, or questing are virtually nonexistent. Try the wiki? Good luck - pages either don't load or are missing basic info like the Lucky Miner's Charm. Look, I get it - this is an indie title. But when you heavily invoke one of the greatest MMOs ever made in your marketing, you have a responsibility to deliver something that at least respects the core appeal. This doesn't. It feels like a rough early-access project that launched before it was anywhere near ready. The choppiness, stuttering, hitching, and other poor optimizations are a key indicator here. I bought this while deep in the final quarter of an OSRS withdrawal (trying to break the cycle of binging hard for months then quitting). Jagex's decision to inject transgenderism into the game had already soured me on supporting them, and I was desperate for a solo RuneScape fantasy alternative. This game kicked me while I was down. Now I'm just itching to go back to OSRS even more. I'm left frustrated, disappointed, and completely devoid of any satisfaction. Pass hard on this one. Even at 50% off it feels like a ripoff. Save your money and your time. *EDIT* I have purchased over 100 games for over a decade on Steam. This is one of three games I genuinely regret buying.
Its awesome I highly recommend this game if youre looking for a unique single player experience
Love the atmosphere, gameplay and story. You can tell this is a real passion project from someone who loved these genres. We need more people to support games like this, so we can hopefully get more in the future like it. It's a sorely unrepresented game genre outside of multi 100 million dollar AAA studios.
It can be an awesome game if its not for the constant lags and disconnects . The game run without any problems in the demo version but now that i bought it i constantly get freezes , lags and disconnects such a pitty !! Not recommend it at the moment. I did not realised that the game is out since 2024 then i would have never bought it. because i see this lagging and disconnect issues are since they launched the game. so that is trully bad from then not even trying to fix the problem since 2024.
Been a long time since I wrote a review for a game. This is single player Runescape to the tee, with optional town hub multiplayer where you can chat to other players, but outside of the towns the world is yours. No getting crashed while you mine or fight. Perfect little game. Overall?: 7/10 solid As a single-player super chill Runescape-like with optional scary combat? 10, nothing comes close outside of literal MMOs
Excellent game. Highly recommended. Lots of complaints from people that either lack some ounce of brain matter to even look at the OPTIONS menu to fix their situation; some complain about stuttering but that's because their system is a toaster, and some complain about bugs. No such bugs so far. Bugs are mostly based on user error. One even complained that it crashes on Steam Deck- yeah it will crash because it has not been verified as Steam compatible. Trust me, relying on negative Steam review is the worst resource you could ever base your decision on. This is a low resource PC application. Try the game. Make sure you are within the 2 hour window so you can refund it.
