Katanagari

Make your own way in an old-school RPG built for one.

Katanagari is a point-and-click adventure in a handcrafted medieval world inspired by Asian history and folklore. Take on a quest, prepare for a cave expedition, or follow a path just to see where it goes. Build a capable character while getting to know the world around you.

Talk to the locals, follow up on a rumor, and investigate things that look out of place. Villages, bamboo groves, and dangerous caves give you reasons to explore, experiment, and pick your fights carefully. That includes the chickens.

A trip into the caves starts before you reach the entrance. Mine ore for equipment, catch fish for supplies, and train for the creatures ahead. Gathering, crafting, and combat develop the same character, so time spent preparing can pay off when you draw your sword.

Choose which skills to train and put them to use. Work toward better equipment, take on a tougher creature, and return to places that got the better of you.

Try a different approach

A fish is out of reach. Pull it toward shore with Water, or raise stepping stones with Earth and go after it.

Five-element magic gives you more ways to gather, fight, and get around. Experiment on creatures and terrain: the same world can offer a different opportunity when you bring the right element.

Set your own goals

Pursue a quest, work toward an equipment upgrade, or spend a session fishing. Your skills and equipment carry forward between sessions. With no online economy or other players to keep up with, you decide what is worth your time.
