The Big SokoBang is a free mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a cheap, lazy cash grab by the mobile devs. It's a very basic Sokoban ripoff, with the only differentiation being that some levels involve moving two characters at the same time. Resolution is locked, the art assets are very low quality and seem to be asset flipped. This is the kind of thing you can play for free on mobile or on the web, so it's difficult to recommend someone should pay money for it. Speaking of money, once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. They want $4 USD for this free mobile app! Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay $4 for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. I didn't spend thousands on a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
Developer Response!
While apparently having some kind of stroke, the developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer falsely accuses my review of containing inaccurate information, but is unable to supply any single example where my review is wrong. In fact, in their pointless reply, the developer supplies completely dishonest and misleading falsehoods. Unfortunately for the developer, these falsehoods are very easy to expose with simple evidence that cannot be denied. Here is the wikipedia page for the ancient Flash game, Sokoban: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokoban Oops. Looks like this game was released after Sokoban... so it would be impossible for Sokoban to be a ripoff of this game. How can the developer possibly explain the completely obvious identical gameplay? Yeah, it's unclear why the developer has been so dishonest here but it's clear this is a cheap nasty Sokoban ripoff. The developer seems to be completely confused/incoherent and falsely accuses me of confusing the PC version of his game as being different from the mobile app version of his game... this is of course complete rubbish as my review very clearly states this is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam by a greedy, lazy mobile dev. The developer rambles about the original creators (the developer of Sokoban is Hiroyuki Imabayashi) being robbed by the developer... an unusual admission to make, but nothing I mentioned in my review. A guilty conscience perhaps? Of course it's impossible for Hiroyuki Imabayashi to be out of pocket for this ripoff because the original Flash Sokoban game that the developer here has shamelessly ripped off is free to play. It's unclear why the developer once more has chosen to be utterly dishonest here. Absolutely, my review is intended to discourage gamers from trying to play this for the very concrete reasons I supply in my review. Perhaps if the developer wanted to make a game that gamers will recommend to other gamers, they shouldn't dump crap mobile apps on Steam, and perhaps they can consider making games of high quality instead of ripping off Hiroyuki Imabayashi's Sokoban. Plagiarism is ugly. None of the developers pointless, rambling, barely coherent response changes the concrete facts of my review, and only serve to reinforce my point. I do not recommend this game. My review stands unaltered.
Having more than one character pushing the blocks results in new exciting challenges. I am impressed with the barrier idea - this allows more compact mazes and combinations. I like this enhanced version of the game I played as a kid.
